Pavón Coffee Den
1216 W Clay St, Houston, TX
Crema's Take
“Pavón Coffee Den is a bustling Houston gem where smooth, well-crafted lattes pair beautifully with truly exceptional pastries—think flaky croissants, guava buns, and monkey bread that locals compare favorably to the city's most celebrated bakeries. The vibe strikes that perfect balance between energetic and welcoming, with reliable wifi and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it equally suited for focused work sessions or lingering over wine during their excellent happy hour. What sets it apart is the genuine care in execution: friendly, fast service and an espresso program that takes itself seriously, all wrapped up in a casual neighborhood spot that genuinely feels like a favorite local haunt.”

Good spot with decent selection of food. The service was friendly and fast. The monkey bread, empanada and ham croissant were all great. Coffees were good albeit not as hot as I would've liked.
This is one of my favorite local spots. Great coffee, delicious baked goods, and an excellent happy hour with wine options that make it easy to settle in and stay awhile. The atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable, perfect for working, meeting friends, or just unwinding. Not five stars because the manager tends to wear a very strong cologne and gets close when checking in. A little more space (and a lighter touch on the fragrance) would make the experience perfect. Overall, still a great place that I’ll continue to visit!
Pavon is pretty busy and has a lot of variety in food and drinks. I came on Monday midday and wanted to get some work done - which I was able to do just fine with noise cancelling headphones. If you’re someone who needs minimal noise, this may not be the place to go. But a great place to meet with friends or hang out! There’s both a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Outlets are hard to come by as most of the wall seating is taken, so come prepared with charged devices. I probably didn’t choose the right food or drinks, but I wasn’t too impressed by the empanadas. They tasted a bit stale/reheated and didn’t have much flavor. They also have burritos and breakfast items, pastries available. I ordered the hibiscus berry iced tea because I didn’t want to be over caffeinated and it was okay. The coffee drinks looked really good and nicely presented! The parking in the area can also be a bit tricky because the parking lot is valet(?) for the restaurants in the next door complex and the street parking is pretty full. Overall I think I’d come back and try some of the other drinks next time
What a coffee shop gem! The latte was fantastic, the coffee was smooth and not overly sweet. The croissant was flaky, delicious & unique. It tasted fresh and was fully filled. The guava bun was really tasty as well. The coffee shop is beautifully decorated, with dim lights and plenty of tables inside and outside. The servers were very nice & provided recommendations. Parking is available on the street and a lot nearby.
One of the best coffee places in Houston. And yes, it's better than Common Bond! The pastries are also perfection and the service was so accommodating. 10/10 recommend.
