Crema's Take
“Tucked inside UC Santa Cruz's McHenry Library, this café wins over students with reliable iced lattes at fair prices and consistently solid French pastries like macarons and croissants, though the food quality can be inconsistent and lines during peak hours test your patience. The vibe is unmistakably campus-oriented and laptop-friendly, making it a dependable study spot rather than a destination for serious coffee craft, though nostalgia runs deep for those who remember the beloved breakfast burritos from years past.”

Please bring back the breakfast burrito with the optional spinach tortilla pleeeease. They had it while I was an undergrad from 2018-2020 and then they rudely removed it. Idk why but it was the best! (As well as the banana shake!) please bring it baaack! I believe it had cheese, hasbrown, sausage, and maybe one more ingredient perhaps. Bring it back pleeease!
This is one of my favorite cafés. This café is located in the McHenry Library on the UC Santa Cruz campus. I usually order an iced soy latte ($5), French macarons, and a croissant. Normally, I'm gluten-free, but their croissants are too yummy. What's a little rash compared to the joy in my heart when I have brunch here. I also order the gluten-free macarons too! My partner gets an iced Americano ($4), and he says it's better than most brand named cafés.
IT'S NOT WORTH IT. Worse than the dining halls. Most bland, soggy, overpriced bagel sandwich I've had in my life. Cashier didn't even know what was in them and started guessing instead of just taking the thing out of the case to check. Terrible service, terrible food, terrible price. Works if you're starving such that you can't crawl to the bookstore for a bag of chips. Maybe try eating the books at the library instead.
I got an iced vanilla latte- it was good and not expensive ($4.27 for a double shot). however the line to the register was pretty long (15 minute wait), although the drink came out quick once I had ordered it.
Pretty good if you are looking for a little meal to fill you up. There are better places on campus but if you are willing to shill out the dough the açaí bowl is great.
