Amber Lane Café & Pub
1 Amber Ln, Northampton, MA
Crema's Take
“Tucked down an alley off Main Street, Amber Lane feels like a rare refuge in a town losing its true sit-down cafés—a beautifully curated space where mismatched tables, plush couches, and meticulous decor create an oasis of coziness that invites you to linger. Beyond their solid espresso drinks and creative specials like Golden Milk lattes, what really sets this place apart is the owners' obvious care in crafting an experience that honors both specialty coffee culture and the slow, intentional pace that's increasingly hard to find.”

A little hidden gem of Northampton. Really glad to see that this place has managed to remain open, likely due to a ton of work from the owners--though they do have seasonal hours which results in lots of closure. They also have a pretty wide variety on their menu and original decor that's engaging and in good taste.
Beautiful, cozy place like no other in Northampton. As more of the coffee shops in town that actually let you sit down and take your time disappear, this place feels like an oasis. Also, their mocha is bigger AND cheaper than the one they serve at Ana Bandeira Chocolates ;-) I haven't tried the food yet so I can't speak to that, but I definitely recommend stopping in for coffee or a cocktail.
This cute cafe is tucked in an alley behind Main Street. They have a wide variety of coffee drinks, cocktails, and mock tails that are very tasty! I got the Golden milk and loved it. The decor is eccentric and cozy.
in my opinion, this is the gold standard for cafe ambiance and coziness. The attention to detail in decor is unmatched. I love the couches and how no two tables are the same. This was my first time back since the rebrand — I can’t say that I noticed any big differences, but they take your order at your table now (instead of the counter) which is a nice touch. We had a royal spanish mocha and cleopatra’s rose mocha; both were delicious and not too sweet, and tasted hand crafted in a way that made it worth the higher price. The chai cake was very good with lots of flavor. Don’t let the lack of gluten in the chai cake turn you off, I never would have guessed that it was gluten free. They serve mostly snacks, desserts, and light meals, not where I would go for a full meal. I do miss when this place was open in the mornings, as the hours are very limited now. I also miss the old name. But those are my only complaints and they are relatively minor. The upstairs can fill up, so get there closer to opening to sit upstairs…it is cozier there. We came at around 1:30 on a saturday and had no trouble getting) a spot but it filled up in the few hours we were there. There are two single occupancy restrooms. The upstairs is not very accessible because the stairs are quite steep. There is not a lot of space to maneuver between the tables even downstairs, but I think that at least part of the downstairs would be accessible if you need a mobility aid. There is a good amount of outdoor seating too. sometimes they do events. there are plenty of books and magazines to read if you forget to bring your own. Overall, highly recommend.
The coffee and waffle quality was average, but the decoration of the place was really nice and unique. The music was terrible; I told them a couple of times, and they didn't do anything about it (even if they did, I didn’t notice). If you're visiting there to spend some time studying or working, you had better have headphones with you.
