Crema's Take

Picaresca brings authentic Mexican coffee culture to LA with standout drinks like café de olla and creative lavender matcha that locals can't stop raving about. The mint-green storefront and hand-drawn interior create an inviting neighborhood vibe perfect for lingering, though the kitchen's execution can be inconsistent—come for the expertly-crafted coffee and cozy atmosphere rather than the food.

Great lavender matcha. I had it cold with almond milk, and it didn't disappoint. I was also hungry and got the breakfast burrito. The burrito on the other hand wasn't so good. It felt rushed. I hate it when I bite into egg and there's little pieces of egg shell. The burrito comes with bacon and some bacon piece were definitely undercooked. The place is tiny but it does offer outdoor seating. Pet friendly. I'll be back but not ordering the breakfast burrito again.

This cafe is literally my go-to and an absolute must try! I’ve been to so many coffee shops and cafes and have tried plenty of authentic Mexican food, and this place truly has it all! Their coffee and matcha are amazing—not too sweet, just the perfect balance for my preference. I always order the chilaquiles verdes and their breakfast sandwich—hands down my top two favorite items!! So delicious that I’m constantly craving them. 😋 Everything on the menu is also very reasonably priced, which is a huge plus. The customer service is always on point—so kind, welcoming, and never rushed. There can be a line on weekends/holidays, but it moves quickly and is 100% worth the wait. It’s such a beautiful cafe, and you can really feel the love the owners have put into creating a space that reflects their cultural roots and sense of community. 🫶

The 3 is subjective - and my criteria is based on value to money spent. With that said, I must say this little shop just oozes personality. With the hand drawn materials on the walls or the rocking 80s music just blasting away even at 7am. The staff is kind friendly helpful and the this location had a breakfast spread that just rivaled bigger names restaurants. And all the dishes had so much flavor and color that you didn't really need anything to it. But the issue like so many restaurants is how much given for how much paid especially for like the breakfast burrito. At nearly 15$, I couldn't justify the cost to ever goin again for it. But if you wanna treat yourself, and your not too far off. I say give it a try.

This was a great first time visit. The mint green exterior paint is a great touch and I love the cozy neighborhood feel that you get as soon as you walk in. The overall interior layout of this restaurant is very nice, from the floor tiling, to the decor, and the wooden countertops. That’s what I want to see more of in diverse communities, no matter the background. The breakfast burrito was very good! Well wrapped, tortilla was very fresh and chewy as it should always be. I love the cheese that they use as well…very tasty. The texture of it seemed to help with keeping the form of the burrito consistent. The crispy hash browns were also a huge plus. Only 2 things that I would say is that the eggs could have been a little more soft & silky, and I wish they had more protein options to choose from other than bacon for their regular BB, but I’m sure that the Machaca Burrito is very good as well. Other than that I would definitely say they this place is a top contender for the best BB in LA. I heard that their coffee is exceptional, so I will be back for a round 2.
