Crema's Take
“Hill Tree's seasonal specials and signature drinks—particularly their iced shaken espresso with banana and cinnamon—are genuinely excellent, with real syrups and careful technique that actually justify the hype. The space has the rare quality of feeling like a real coffee shop rather than a chain, with thoughtful decor, good music, and a crowd that actually wants to linger, plus they offer choice in their brewing methods (they'll walk you through four different roasts for pour over). If you're in Barboursville and want coffee that's been thought through, this is clearly the best option around.”
What to expect
Espresso-focused, with a pour-over program, good cold brew. A slow-sit spot, good for meetings. Pastries on the menu. Dog friendly. Parking available.

See all on Google →We love Hill Tree! Their seasonal specialities are always 🔥 but their iced shaken espresso (with banana and cinnamon) is out of this world. Puts major chains to shame. Everyone is always so kind and knowledgeable if you aren’t sure what to get.
This was a great find. It has the vibes of a true coffee shop. Loved the music, decor and the plants. The pastries and muffins were delicious. Our drinks were great as well. I’m not a huge fan of darker espresso roasts so just fyi that their espresso has that kind of bite.…

This is the place to go for coffee done on a high level. I tried the Japanese iced coffee process and was offered a choice between four organic roasts from light to dark. Impressive! Pastries and bagels are on offer including house made cream cheese. Lovely owners! Can’t wait to…
This is clearly the best shop in the area and almost every barista there is great. I love coming here. However, there is one worker who is a detriment to this shop long-term. This person was working around 9:30 AM Monday, January 12, 2026. As soon as we walked in his demeanor…
