Urban Backyard
180 Mulberry St, New York, NY
Crema's Take
“Urban Backyard feels like stepping into a carefully curated time capsule on Mulberry Street, where every detail from the retro decor to the thoughtfully composed playlist invites you to linger. Their drinks strike that rare balance between creativity and restraint—whether you're ordering their showstopping Tiramisu Latte or exploring seasonal specials—everything tastes intentionally crafted rather than artificially sweetened, and the pastries pair perfectly for a slow morning or focused work session.”

I tried a few of their February specials and everything felt thoughtfully made, not overly sweet or artificial. The Tiramisu Latte was smooth and comforting, especially with the little biscuit on top that made it feel like a drinkable dessert. The Strawberry Matcha Cloud was light and fresh, with real fruit flavor instead of syrupy sweetness. Their Rose Velvet Latte had a subtle floral note that was surprisingly calming. I also loved the Basque cheesecakes, especially the lavender earl grey, which was unique without being overpowering. The space has a warm wood-toned interior that’s perfect for working or catching up with a friend!
I was so excited to try this cafe when I discovered it on Instagram! The speciality lattes that I wanted to try were out of stock, so I opted for the Tiramisu latte! Goodness, it was so delicious! It was warm to taste! And my sister ate the sugar cookie! Would love to come back again! However, the cafe is quite small!
retro cafe in Nolita, NYC, on mulberry street, @urbanbackyardnyc has a great retro feel. It’s cosy, has friendly barista, great coffee and lovely baked pastries. The basement has a lot of comfortable seating.
Why didn't I know about this place earlier? No idea! But as they say, better late than never! I really love starting my day at Urban Backyard, tackling some boring laptop work with a black drip and their absolutely delicious Espresso Chocolate loaf! The ambience is really cool and laid-back, with a downstairs area that offers more seating. Cool tunes and the barista is a rockstar... Momo! 10/10
The perfect coffee shop, delicious chai latte, and their Urban special coffee is out of this world. Ambiance, music, decor, etc are well thought from the moment one pass by the sidewalk, once you open the door towards the backyard then the experience begins.
