Cafe Indigo
13201 Shaker Square, Cleveland, OH
Crema's Take
“Cafe Indigo is a refreshingly unconventional spot in Shaker Square where excellent espresso-driven coffee shares space with a traditional ice cream counter, creating an unexpectedly charming hybrid experience that feels equal parts cozy neighborhood cafe and nostalgic sweet shop. The atmosphere draws people in with its thoughtful details—jazz music, plants, local art on the walls, and comfortable seating that invites you to linger—making it the kind of place that inspires both focused work sessions and leisurely family visits. Fair warning: the menu can be hard to read and service inconsistencies show up in reviews, but when things click, you get genuinely excellent coffee and fresh pastries paired with a vibe that's genuinely interesting.”

I’m not sure how to explain this place. I love the seating, the jazz music playing, the pictures on the wall, plants. But half the store is coffee and the other half a traditional ice cream shop. They don’t fit together. Their selection of coffee was limited. Only cold options were adding ice to whatever hot drink you wanted. The syrup in my daughter’s latte was too sweet. I would def hang out in there and do work, but otherwise I wouldn’t visit again.
Cafe Indigoos a much needed cafe for the old Shaker Square area. The ambiance is comfortable and inspiring with a touch of interesting. The customer service is also great with different desserts and really nice beverages of tea, coffee and other items We also love their tee shirt
Came in with family for a late morning coffee. We were greeted by gnats before speaking to staff. The menu screens weren’t working so we read the very limited menu in the smallest possible font they could print. The woman at the register offered reading glasses to help review the menu, although I was wearing prescription lenses. The “authentic” Greek drink was so incredibly bitter, unsweetened, and was impossible to finish. We returned the drink and requested a different item. The barista insinuated we didn’t have the palate for the drink and told us the replacement was significantly more in price and reluctantly made a replacement. I recently traveled to Greece and didn’t have a coffee drink remotely close to the taste of what the barista made. It was insulting to us and the drink needs to be removed from the menu. The mocha tasted like pure hot chocolate for $9. We didn’t finish our drinks and left. And we won’t be returning. The atmosphere is cute but the gnats made it impossible to relax and enjoy the food and drinks. The baristas may benefit from additional training with making the drinks and customer service. There are several reviews speaking to the quality of the drinks specifically the bitterness of the coffee and it has not been properly addressed. Save yourself time and money and go elsewhere.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a great find! The coffee was excellent — rich, smooth, and made just right. The pastry was fresh and delicious, the kind you actually want to slow down and savor. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, perfect for relaxing or catching up with a friend. Everything about this place just felt right — great service, great vibe, and great taste. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to! -
I've never been to a Cafe Indigo before, but I was gifted a coupon at a festival and discounted ice isn't something you should pass on. When I arrived, I was greeted by someone with such a positively lovely spirit! She was so helpful to me deciding what I wanted and her recommendation was spot on! I've told everyone about this experience and how amazingly cute this cafe is. I can't believe I've passed it so many times not going in. The ice cream was so fresh tasting and they have THE BEST MARASCHINO CHERRIES EVER! I can't wait to go again and try more things on the menu. This place is the vibe all year long; it's cozy-vintage meets art deco modern with the cool artwork, vibrant colors, vintage exterior (I love the doors!) and fireplace. 10/10
