Crema's Take

Northern Grind has genuinely transformed into a warm, welcoming spot that draws people in for much more than just coffee—their fresh-baked banana muffins and creative drinks like iced matcha with brown sugar syrup are clearly worth the visit. The baristas here, particularly standouts like Lia, are known for their genuine friendliness and hard work, creating an atmosphere that's equally great for studying, meeting friends, or just settling in with a pastry and your laptop. It's the kind of place where regulars feel at home and newcomers quickly understand why this Ypsilanti gem has earned such strong affection from its community.

We just devoured muffins, cheesecake, and coffee, hot chocolate.. and it was HEAVEN! 🍰 Those banana muffins though, so fresh! 💛 And my Irish latte was EVERYTHING. Also, shoutout to the staff here - super friendly and patient 😊. Already planning my next visit! Thank you Disha

i’ve been here a couple of times before and have always had a great experience. one barista in particular was always really nice and friendly. i went in today and the barista working was rude and inattentive. i ordered a breakfast sandwich that had hardly any sausage on it. what sausage patty is this. why is the sausage patty 1/4 of the size of the bagel. it was also burnt. i know if the other barista was working he would have not done that to me. idk if he still works there but i hope he does bc he seems to be carrying the place. the sausage patty was rubbery btw.

This place has come a long way since changing owners and names, in both atmosphere and service. The ambience is warmer and more welcoming now. Lia the barista is always hard at work without for a second sacrificing service and her good natured attitude.

Came in a few weeks ago with my cousins and the atmosphere itself is so nice and I can imagine myself studying there if I was a student myself. I had ordered an iced matcha with brown sugar syrup and a plain bagel with cream cheese on the side. The matcha itself was lighter on the taste, I think the syrup I chose overpowered it so if I were to come back I’d go plain. The bagel itself was fine, nothing special about it but I was decently surprised by the fact the side of cream cheese container was completely filled in which I did enjoy not having to be stingy with how much cream cheese I could put on my bagel compared to other coffee shops that only give you a little bit.

Waited over 30 minutes for 2 iced lattes and 2 bagels. My food was a sad excuse of a bagel, minimal cream cheese, and by the time it was handed to me it was cold. I’m very disappointed in this, as it costed over $30 for just these items. The lattes were good but I would never ever spend money on food here again. Would much rather go to sweet waters down the road.
