Crema's Take

Kape Roasters feels like discovering a well-kept secret in Dana Point, where owner John has created a warm neighborhood gathering spot that honors Filipino heritage through house-made ube pastries and thoughtful hospitality. The espresso and pour overs are made with real care and precision—reviewers rave about the smooth, fresh-to-order quality—and the minimalist space somehow manages to feel both welcoming to families with its dedicated kids section and perfect for serious coffee lovers lingering over their cups. It's the kind of place where regulars become daily fixtures and newcomers are greeted like friends, especially if you need help navigating allergens or discovering your next favorite pastry.

This has become one of my favorite local spots. I’m there at least 4–5 times a week and it never disappoints. The coffee is always made fresh to order, and you can truly taste the difference — smooth, rich, and consistently delicious. I also love that they have a rewards/points system — don’t forget to add your number when you order! It’s such a great perk for regulars. There’s something special about the atmosphere too. It feels welcoming, community-focused, and culturally rich. The pastries and breakfast options are great, and the staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. So grateful to have a place like this in South County!

Super cute neighborhood cafe, Kape, which means coffee. The owner? Was also very helpful with allergens. We ordered the smoked salmon toast, prosciutto and burrata toast, Kape latte, and matcha latte. 😋

Finally Filipino baked goods close by, oh and the coffee is great too! Stopped by this morning and was warmly welcomed to a great space. The owner John was happily talking with customers with a smile that brightens the whole room. The coffee has a great taste and there are plenty of tasty options. We went with the Kape latte and the Ube latte and both were delicious. Our favorite were the ensaymada! They are a must try, so light and fluffy. We highly recommend this place for the friendly, community atmosphere and delicious coffee. Everything is Sarap!

$13.47 + $1 tip for a pour over blonde roast and a delicious Ube Philippine Pastry. They heat up the pastry in house and the coffee was piping hot. Seating was plenty and all the outlets work well for working here. The wifi is fast and reliable, but you need to ask the barista for the password. There is a kids corner so there were lots of children around. No in house cups, only disposable containers. They do have a BYO cup discount though! Table I was sat at was dirty so I needed to clean it with napkins and water that was readily available at the water/sugar/cream station. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

A brand new coffee roaster in a business center. I love the natural minimalistic design and the fact that it keeps children in mind with a kids section is great! The staff is friendly and fast with their service. I met the owner John who is a down to earth guy and very welcoming of his customers. I ordered the Kape Latte, a traditional cup of coffee with condensed milk which was smooth, not too sweet and rich woth flavor. I also ordered the Ube Ensaymada which was fluffy, light and good. This place has a good amount of seating, if you want to chill and hangout while your kids play.
