Common Grounds
402 W 1st St, Chico, CA
Crema's Take
“Common Grounds is experimenting with an admirable eco-conscious approach through their reusable cup program, though the execution feels a bit clunky and the $1 surcharge has rubbed some customers the wrong way. Their cold brew and iced green tea with syrup flavor options are genuinely worth seeking out, even if the service can be slow and the espresso pulls tend toward the bold side. If you're in the Chico area and want a solid iced coffee without the bagel commitment, this spot deserves a visit—just maybe not during peak morning hours.”

They took so long to warm up one small croissant. The coffee was so strong. Took a long time to make everything. They forgot I ordered too.
their iced green tea is good, lots of syrup flavors, appreciate the attempt at eco-friendliness with reusable cups available for purchase
I was given a reusable plastic cup with my hot drink. What a waste! I have to toss the equivalent of approximately 12 plastic cups so they can feel like they are making a difference. Offer the customer a choice and make a difference, but there is no solution that fits all all the time. I have too many reusable cups, they are the new problem. Compostable or not, paper works fine and is compostable at a faster rate of time.
They charge $1 for their cups you have to buy if you don't bring your own.
This place has better iced coffee than the coffee shop on the other side of Kendall Hall but worse bagels. Plan your morning route accordingly.
