Crema's Take
“This Eau Claire institution feels like the real deal—a genuine small-town cafe where hearty comfort food and genuinely excellent pies are the main attractions, not an afterthought. The straightforward menu of classics like hot beef sandwiches, fried chicken, and daily specials arrives quickly and in generous portions at prices that feel refreshingly fair, making it the kind of place families keep coming back to across generations. Whether you're grabbing a quick coffee and pastry or settling in for a leisurely breakfast with neighbors, the unpretentious atmosphere and genuinely good food create that rare feeling of stepping into a place that actually cares about doing the fundamentals well.”

First time there. Not real busy. Ordered a Reuben w/ff, 1000 on the side. Friend ordered daily special, Salisbury steak, mashed spuds, gravy, grn beans & a roll, we both ordered coffee. Another of first bites someplace new and nothing but solid gristle with tough meat.Meat so tough, I had to pull it out of the sandwich by my teeth and drop it on my plate, yuck. Ff were lukewarm at best. My friend's Salisbury steak looked like a kids portioning in elementary school. Steak was a out 4"x3", spuds were equivalent to about a quarter cup, green beans weren't rinsed from can, so you could actually smell the aluminum can they came in along with the same water. Those were served in a petite bowl, no seasoning. Server never offered to refill water, and I asked for fries that were hot. My friend also said her food wasn't hot either. Server offered reheating in microwave, but first she stated "the bottom of the plate is hot!" while walking away with plate. Within moments returned with my friend's plate. She then brought my ff. Those were right out of the fryer. I couldn't each much of the sandwich between more gristle and tough meat. I asked for a to go, but left food there. My friend had already placed an order of the same plate she had when we first got there; the bill came to over $35!! Who wants pie if I couldn't even enjoy my lunch?? Quality of food was subpar at best and the cook clearly wasnt up to the task. Will never return there.
Stopped in for a quick breakfast with my parents. The food was out fast and was very good. The pricing is hard to beat, cheapest I've seen around the area in a long time. They also offered a breakfast buffet that looked amazing, however, we weren't quite that hungry to give it a try. There was only one waitress, which I think they could habe used two at the time we were there, so it was a little slower than other times we've stopped. But, it won't deter us from stopping in again the next time we're in Bloomer.
Stopped by for lunch and dessert. Quick service. Ample portions. We had the hot beef sandwich and the fried chicken dinner. Both were plentiful and delicious. We tried their pies for dessert. Lots of yummy fruit fillings.
This is my favorite place to stop if I’m in Bloomer or passing through. The food at this cafe is off the charts. The grilled chicken sandwich is *chefs kiss*. The onion rings are also fried to perfection. I haven’t tried the pie yet but I have heard it is fantastic and is in all of the Kwik trips. Service is always fast. Typical diner/cafe vibes. Would def recommend.
All I can say is Pie, Pie, Pie! We stopped in for a late lunch after a long drive from Duluth, MN. This is a wonderful family restaurant with great food, great service, simple atmosphere and off the wall excellent PIE! Our server was very courteous and helpful. She was quick, checked on us just the right amount of time and did something special for us with a piece of pie. (more on that later) There is a lot of memorabilia on the walls around the restaurant about the resturant and local lore, which makes the time when waiting for food to arrive go by quickly. I started with a chicken dumpling soup which was hot and robust. We both had burgers, mine was a Western burger with the sauce on the side, with chips and a pickle. My partner had the California burger with fries. Both burgers were cooked perfectly, and were a great combination of ingredients, and plenty of food on our plates. Now for the star of our lunch. PIE! We decided to split a Caramel Apple Pie with vanilla ice cream and walnuts. OMG, what an unexpected surprise. First our server split the slice onto 2 separate plates. Each had a large scoop of ice cream, a bunch of walnuts and just the right amount of caramel sauce. Normally when we shared a desert at other locations in the past, we just got the desert on one dish with 2 forks. The fact that our server made each plate look like it was custom made for us made the dining experience that much enjoyable. They have a large selection of pies both for “by the slice” and whole pies to take home. We highly recommend the Main Street Cafe in Bloomer, WI. Excellent food, outstanding service and the price is very reasonable. Make sure you check out this cafe, you will not be disappointed. Oh yea, leave room for pie!
