Crema's Take
“Courier Coffee roasts with an uncompromising hand that produces bold, occasionally polarizing espresso—some find it perfectly Italian-style rich, others detect a bite—but pair it with their stellar house pastries and the genuine hospitality from staff who actually care about your experience, and you've got a Portland gem that feels less like a transaction and more like visiting someone's incredibly well-run living room. The Japanese-influenced food menu (including hand rolls) sets them apart from typical coffee shops, making it worth lingering over a cappuccino that regulars swear is worth planning your day around.”
What to expect
Espresso-focused, with creative signature drinks, with a pour-over program. A slow-sit spot, outdoor seating. Pastries and light food on the menu. Family friendly. Parking available.

See all on Google →Amazing little coffee shop that provides more than just coffee! Operated with a strong Japanese flair, there are delicious hand rolls and baked goods available to choose from. Everything is hand made and I believe they roast their own coffee beans. Nice selection of Japanese…
Courier Coffee is hands down the best coffee in Portland, and honestly the best I've had in all my travels. Not just because it is expertly roasted locally using high-quality beans ethically sourced from small farms in key coffee growing regions, but also because the owner keeps…
I actually came over for Soen, but I left with some pastries, too! While I was waiting for my Soen order, one of the folks working the coffee side came out and wiped down a table for me (it had been raining), told me a bit about Courier and Soen's background, and recommended…
Very classic coffee menu that’s reminiscent of coffee bars in Italy. My latte was rich and creamy, although the espresso tasted quite bitter and a little burnt to me. I do want to give this place another try and hopefully get some pastries too.
I wish I could drink the cappuccinos Kate makes every day. Perfectly balanced, perfect foam, perfect size. Paired with one of the house pastries, it’s an entirely delicious experience. Such a Portland staple and the vibes and drinks are as good as ever. Roast their own beans too!
This place is an absolute GEM. Their pastries are right out of the oven, and the coffee is so good. The vibe makes you feel like you are at home, as if you've been in this place for a lifetime. Easily one of the best coffee spots in Portland .
