Lucinda's Deli & More
535 Scott St, San Francisco, CA
Crema's Take
“Tucked near Alamo Square, Lucinda's is a neighborhood institution that seamlessly blends a high-quality deli counter with a welcoming café where you can linger over excellent coffee and thoughtfully crafted drinks. The vibe here rewards both the rushed local grabbing a sandwich and the visitor settling in for an afternoon—their pickled onions and quality ingredients are the kinds of details that turn a casual stop into a destination worth returning to.”

Lucinda's Deli & More is an absolute must-stop whether you’re a local or just visiting the city. This place is one of those true neighborhood gems that instantly makes an impression and keeps you coming back. The sandwiches here are seriously out of this world. Everything is fresh, generously portioned, and packed with flavor. It’s the kind of sandwich you’re still thinking about long after you’ve finished it. My first experience at Lucinda’s was actually before moving to San Francisco, and now that I’m officially a resident, it’s become a go-to spot especially when friends or family are visiting from out of town. It’s always the place I want to show people. One of the best parts is what comes after you grab your sandwich. You can walk right over to Alamo Square and sit in the park while enjoying the view of the Painted Ladies. It’s such a classic San Francisco experience and makes the whole stop even better. The vibe at Lucinda’s is casual, friendly, and welcoming exactly what you want from a neighborhood deli. It feels authentic and local in the best way. Incredible sandwiches, a perfect location, and an experience that never disappoints. I highly recommend stopping in you won’t regret it.
What began as a calm stroll through San Francisco's Alamo Square quickly turned into a life-changing experience upon entering Lucinda's Deli & More last Saturday afternoon. A long line snaked its way out the door, and with each brown sandwich bag that crinkled as it exited the "pick-up" line, the anticipation only grew more. The sandwich was nothing short of excellent. I chose the Prosciutto option on the menu, which eloquently blended an array of sweet and salty flavors that lit up my taste buds like no other deli option has before. The thin apple slices brought everything in this sandwich together, creating the right amount of volume, freshness, and crisp with each bite. Pepper jam oozed from the bottom, leaving behind a trail that could only resemble the memory of the prior bite. By the time I finished the sandwich, I had forgotten of my long-time dislike of arugula, which could not be substituted out. I recommend Lucinda's to all. Go out for a walk, and return home a new person.
Had a very good sandwich here. About a 20-25 minute wait for food at noon so not too busy. Coffee available in the store as well. Very close to Alamo Square park for nice vibes when eating.
This was an incredible experience, the sandwiches were soooo good. You can tell the quality is superb. The deli also has a cute cafe inside where they serve really nice drinks (matcha, coffee, etc) with several syrup/flavor options, some of which are seasonal. The deli is also a super close walk to Alamo square and the painted ladies, which elevates the experience.
This is where we had the best sandwiches ever! Super high-quality ingredients and delicious combinations! The pickled onions are so tasty, they're absolutely brilliant! Whenever I'm in San Francisco, I always come back here. The service was very nice and friendly. They were also very understanding and took our order even after closing time - we're so grateful for that! We were incredibly hungry, and they saved us! 🙂
