H&H Bagels
1155 S Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, FL
Crema's Take
“H&H Bagels brings a slice of New York bagel culture to Tampa with a no-frills approach that earns passionate fans for their generous cream cheese applications and properly executed breakfast sandwiches like the BEC and Nova Salmon varieties. While some longtime New Yorkers note it doesn't quite rival the legendary shops back home, the quick service and consistent quality keep regulars coming back—just be prepared for that distinctive bagel-shop aroma when you walk through the door.”

First time trying this bagel spot. I didn’t really know what to expect I’ve seen it on TikTok and had it on my places-to-go list for a long time, but I finally made it in today. When I walked in, I felt relaxed right away. The place was clean and the music selection was fire. The customer service was great. Mikhail helped me out and walked me through each ingredient. He was patient and made me feel welcome, especially since it was my first time. I’m not even a raw fish kind of guy, but something about this place made me feel comfortable stepping out of my comfort zone. I tried the nova salmon with the works, and I’m glad I did. It was really good definitely going to be one of my favorite bagels there. I’ll be telling my friends and co-workers about this spot for a quick breakfast or lunch before work. 10/10, I’ll definitely be back.
From what I could tell all the negative reviews were early on when the place first opened. I just went this morning and did a pickup to go. So for me things were quick and easy. We got the Nova Salmon with the Works on an everything bagel and Taylor Ham, Egg & Cheese on a kaiser roll. Both were very good. I'm not saying it's exactly the same as in New York but as close as it gets. I feel like people's reviews get skewed because of long lines when they first opened. And maybe my review is skewed because I didn't experience that. Either way, it's still a very good spot.
I’ve been 3 times and they hit the spot every time! The BEC is excellent and they don’t skimp on the scallions in the cream cheese! The spicy sausage egg & cheese is great as well and my lox loving friend loved her loaded lox bagel.
New York is laughing. The store had a burnt odor as soon as I walked in. Line moved at a decent pace. Saw the eggs being made so decided to get the classic bacon, egg and cheese on a plain bagel (the most popular according to the menu). Ordered and watched the worker cut my bagel in half with a knife that had cream cheese on it from a previous order and put it in the toaster. Glad my bagel order could help to wipe clean the knife. From there the line moves down and you tell the cashier what you had and wait for them to call you. Store is tiny, there is not a good waiting area for carry outs. I had 2 different workers ask me my name again and what I was waiting for. The man at the cashier told me twice “it’s coming right out.” There was another worker that walked by and claimed my order was “being wrapped”. Both statements were easily another 6 minute wait. Not sure what took so long for them to furnish one simple of their “most popular” sandwich which was ordered as is. Now for the eating part: the bagel was absolutely not good. It tasted flavorless, stale and cheap. After one bite I could tell they are not made fresh. The whole sandwich was not hot, not warm, which I didn’t understand considering it took so long. Which leads me to believe it was just sitting forgotten. The egg was good, bacon was about 6 half strips all of varying cook. Overall it looked like a fast food slop job, not a bagel place that took pride in putting it together. I, like the rest of the community, was looking forward to the opening. It was a total disappointment and I will not be returning.
I lived in the City for 30+ years, lucky to eat at eat so many little bagel shops including eating at H&H Bagels many times. These were fine bagels but not as great as Popup or Pete’s Bagels. Not even as good as the old 18 Bagels and the other variations they tried to make a successful bagel shop at that South Dale Mabry location near FedEx. And for the price, I’d rather got to Whole Foods for their great bagels at a little over a dollar. I ordered 2 plain and 2 sesame to go. The outer had a nice crisp to it and the inside had a nice chew to it. But never got a wow, this is an amazing bagels. Cute little place but the acoustics were off…I asked for not sliced but they started to slice the bagels because they couldn’t hear exactly what u said. I asked the cashier several times to repeat herself as I just couldn’t hear her over the music. I’ll head here numerous more times and will likely adjust my review with more experience eating at this location.
