Sant Ambroeus Brookfield
230 Vesey St, New York, NY
Crema's Take
“Tucked inside Brookfield Place, this Italian-inspired café strikes that rare balance between polished sophistication and genuine warmth, where staff like Lucca and Luca have earned praise for service that feels genuinely intuitive rather than merely attentive. Beyond the reliable espresso drinks, Sant Ambroeus shines with exceptional pastries and house-made desserts—their Valentine's Day chocolate raspberry cake has left guests raving about its perfect balance of richness and restraint—plus a surprisingly strong food program with thoughtfully executed dishes like perfectly cooked lentil salad and clam linguine. It's the kind of place that works equally well for a solo coffee-and-pastry moment or a leisurely dinner with friends, with a modern, beautiful dining room that invites you to linger.”

Sant Ambroeus Brookfield Place was lovely, and Lucca took excellent care of us. The Valentine’s Day chocolate raspberry cake is truly exceptional-perfectly balanced, rich without being heavy, and unforgettable. This cake deserves a permanent place on the menu. I sincerely hope you keep it year-round because it’s the best cake I’ve ever had and something guests will come back for.
Incredible dining experience from start to finish. One of the managers, Luca, was attentive far beyond what’s typical.. thoughtful, intuitive, and very attuned to both our needs and the overall atmosphere of the space. Hospitality that feels effortless yet intentional. Sait was our server and matched that same standard with warmth and a calm confidence that made the entire experience feel seamless and well cared for. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, the ambiance, and the music. It was our second time but def not last :)
My partner and I visited Sant Ambroeus Brookfield on September 22nd around 9pm without a reservation. We were warmly welcomed by a very kind blonde gentleman (unfortunately we didn’t get his name) and seated at a lovely table. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant, even with a few groups dining, the sound insulation kept everything comfortable. The food was fantastic, probably some of the best ravioli I have ever eaten! But what truly made the evening unforgettable was our server, Suene, originally from Brazil. We were delighted to speak our language with her, and she is simply born for this job. Her friendliness, attentiveness, professionalism, and genuine warmth made the experience truly five stars. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and cozy, but the real highlight of the evening was Suene. She turned a wonderful dinner into a truly memorable experience. (Apologies for the bad quality of the pictures, it was cosy and a bit dark inside the restaurant)
Surprisingly good for the World Financial Center, Lentil salad was perfectly cooked (lentils are difficult) and quite substantial. The clam linguine was extremely good. Only the eggplant was a bit weak, a bit soggy, needed more mozzarella and more crunchiness. Service was excellent, great atmosphere, except please diners when your baby starts screaming take it outside.
Beautiful restaurant and modern space, but that is where the positives end. I had dinner here with colleagues and left disappointed in almost every area except the ambiance. Food: I ordered the Fettuccine al Bolognese, which was one of the blandest pastas I have ever had. It lacked flavor, although it did at least come out hot. The appetizers looked upscale, but the only one worth mentioning was the shrimp cocktail, and even that was just five medium shrimp for $37. Drinks: The cocktails were fine, but nothing stood out. This place works better as a spot for after-work drinks than for an actual dinner. Ambiance: The outdoor seating is pleasant and not crowded by people walking past. Inside, the restaurant has a modern and sleek look, but the experience does not live up to the design. Price: This restaurant is overpriced, with most items costing $15 to $30 more than comparable spots in New York City. It felt more like a tourist trap than a dining destination. For what I spent, I would have rather gone to a reputable steakhouse or a well-known NYC restaurant. The sticker shock was real, and the location near the World Trade Center likely explains the inflated prices. Service: For the price, the service should have been much more attentive. Water was refilled slowly, items were forgotten, and our table was left unattended for long periods. It did not come close to the level of service the pricing suggests. Overall: The restaurant looks nice, but the food, service, and pricing all missed the mark. I wanted to like this place, but the experience was a disappointment.
