Crema's Take

Upper Left Roasters pulls you in with genuinely excellent espresso-based drinks—reviewers rave about the rich, balanced lattes and beautifully executed latte art—but the real draw is the bright, energetic space that's perfect for lingering over a pour over or matcha latte while you work or meet friends. The full breakfast menu and free street parking seal the deal for a longer visit, though fair warning: this spot gets packed because everyone in Portland seems to know about it.

The latte here is fantastic—rich, aromatic, and perfectly balanced. The place is always lively and full of energy, and it’s definitely worth coming back for. Easily one of my top 3 coffees in Portland!

They make it so hard for me to visit, much less recommend. Although the coffee is decent, the service is APPALLING. Every single barista is rude. Without exception in the last several visits I’ve made. It’s also extremely expensive but not worth the price (as far as food goes). I ordered Turkish eggs and all of my four small pieces of toast were burnt to a crisp, inedible. Super disappointing every single time I try to give them another try.

Excellent cafe and matcha lattes at Upper Left Roasters. Love the latte art. We had the Nova Lox and Avocado Toast for breakfast. It was tasty. And the space is bright and open. Friendly barista. Highly recommended!

I am a visiter in town and who doesn't love a new coffee spot to check out. Street parking is the only thing I can find but it's free since it's in a nice neighborhood. I wanted their popular breakfast sandwich but it was sold out so I tried their turkish breakfast. Man that was super yummy! I love the greek yogurt aspect of the dish. It was a chilly march so i got me a hot vanilla latte. Smooooooth espresso to say the least. I enjoyed reading a book and a great time there. Bookmarked and saved.

Good coffee, wonderful location, but gets a bit packed and busy! Got their pourover and I really enjoyed it. Wonderfully extracted, could taste the fruity notes. Also got a savory pastry along with my coffee and it paired super well. Service is as fast and efficient as it gets for the traffic they get. The location has a lot of seating, both inside and out, but it fills up quick! Good spot to hang around if you like that bustling atmosphere. Overall, enjoyed my time and a great place to hang out!
