Crema's Take
“This beautifully decorated Indian bistro in Clovis has earned its stellar reputation through genuinely excellent food—think perfectly spiced butter chicken and expertly prepared daal with fresh naan—paired with attentive hospitality and an impressive selection of craft beers and cocktails that make it feel like more than just a neighborhood spot. The warm, welcoming atmosphere draws people back repeatedly, with staff like Harnaz remembered for their thoughtful service, making it the kind of place worth the drive from Fresno for a leisurely meal and conversation.”

Food: we had the butter chicken lunch and yellow lentils dish. The food overall was flavorful and the naan was fresh. Daal was well prepared. Was definitely one of the better places in Fresno/Clovis. 5/5 Stars Service: This was quite disappointing. We came in and waited to be seated. The host was around the corner sitting on his phone. Our actual server did a decent job, but we had issues finding her to get containers and the bill. I had to get up twice to ask someone for these items. Both times, the other two servers in the dining room were sitting behind the partition on their phones. The place wasn’t too busy, maybe 2 other tables during lunchtime. Atmosphere: Comes across as a very upscale place. A little on the darker side with decor and lighting. Overall, if the service was a bit more attentive then this would easily be 5/5 stars. The food had a lot of flavor and richness to it. However, I haven’t had service this dysfunctional and so many employees on their phones in my entire life going to restaurants. That was really a disappointing part for a restaurant that comes across as a higher level of dining. I’m all for giving a Veteran owned restaurant another chance.
Me and my wife visited this place for the first time and it was great experience. We specifically like hospitality of Harnaz, she was very respectful and attentive. She first found what kind of taste we like, conveyed exactly to chef and served as per our expectations. Ambiance was really good. We would like to visit again. The atmosphere was great. The restaurant is beautifully-decorated. Unfortunately, this is one of those 5-star restaurants because it is very Instagrammable. The aesthetics is the only part that exceeds expectations. The service was inconsistent. When I arrived to meet my friends, the place was empty but my friends had been told to wait for a table to be cleaned. I had to ask again before they finally reluctantly cleaned the one dirty table for us in spite of the numerous empty clean tables. Our waiter was okay. We had to ask to order drinks which was strange. At one point, I glanced over and saw 3 members of the waitstaff sitting on their phones where customers are supposed to wait for tables. The host stand was unattended and messy. I had to signal to the waiter to put his phone away so we could get the bill. We ordered Pakora, Tandoori chicken, Aloo Gobi, Dal Tadka, & Samosas. I’ve eaten homemade Indian food as well as Indian food from local food trucks and markets. I also know how to cook Indian curries at home. The food was terrible. It wasn’t spicy at all in spite of ordering medium spice. The Pakora was dried out and obviously not served fresh. The sabji (curry) was watery with too much oil. The tandoori Naan was drenched in ghee. My friend barely ate 2 pieces of her Tandoori chicken due to the lack of flavor. I ended up feeling sick from all the butter or oil. I would skip this Instagrammable place and head to a food truck or a much less fancy Indian food market for tasty flavorful Indian food.
If you’re in Clovis, CA, and you’re looking for amazing Indian food, great atmosphere and a wide variety of draft and bottled beers and delicious cocktails, LOOK NO FARTHER!!! This place has everything!!! We’ve been here a few times now. It never disappoints. They even have an awesome happy hour with great meal and drink deals. Veteran owned and wonderful service!!! Come for food, just for drinks or both. This place is beautiful inside. Don’t let the strip mall fool you. You’ll be transported to another place once you step inside.
On the final day of our trip to Fresno, we returned from Sequoia National Park, skipping all the restaurants along the way, eager to find out what the five-star hype was about. Is it worth it? Absolutely, 100%! This restaurant perfectly combines a fabulous ambiance, attentive service, and delicious food. The interior ambience is tastefully done from the walls to even the most minor details. We ordered almost 8 to 9 dishes, and everything was top notch. Tandoori Chicken was incredibly fresh and juicy. Every dish was expertly prepared and utterly delicious. Their patience and consistency amaze me even at the last dine-in seating time. Our server, Balreen, was kind and patient with our orders, even though it was quite late. She was attentive throughout our meal. They do have a bar with seating. The restaurant is kid-friendly and wheelchair accessible.
