Uncommon Grounds Coffee & Bagels
Empire State Plaza - Center Concourse, Albany, NY
Crema's Take
“This Albany bagel-and-coffee spot wins hearts with creative, oversized bagels like the Flying Pig (yes, on cheddar jalapeño) paired with inventive cream cheese flavors and a solid espresso program that keeps regulars coming back for their Americanos and cold brews. The vibe strikes that sweet spot between quick grab and lingering third place—friendly staff, decent portions, prices that won't break the bank, and an atmosphere that draws in young people and locals alike. Whether you're meeting someone or flying solo, you'll find yourself at a genuinely welcoming counter where the bagels are consistent and the cookies are worth the trip.”

Tried the Flying Pig on a cheddar jalapeño bagel and WOWWWW!!! Absolutely delicious. My boyfriend was jealous he didn’t get it (and ate my other half). I’ll be back for sureeeee
such a wonderful bagel shop! i love how big and soft the bagels are and they have so many cream cheese flavors!! 🥯 they are priced great as well. their cookies are so good too, especially the zebra one (cookies & cream flavor) 🍪😋 the only thing i would say is that it GETS PACKED HERE!!! usually a long line but so worth the short wait 😌
I’m a regular customer for this place, I love the lumberjack and western bagels. But unfortunately I found a hair in my bagel... It wasn’t even just one hair. If it had been only one, I would’ve ignored it and kept eating. Since I’ve been coming here for a long time, I wasn’t going to say anything. But when I found a second hair, I couldn’t continue eating. + I don’t like the ventilation inside. When I step outside, the strong bagel smell sticks to me. I hope you can fix those problems.
The staff is friendly, the vibe is nice, I go for an Americano or cold brew. They’ve got a good variety of bagels, and the portions are decent for the price. It’s a spot that young people and locals love. Their other locations are great too, and they roast their own coffee.
I go to uncommon grounds (specifically at Stuyvesant plaza) usually once a week. The bagels are consistent. It’s usually too much cream cheese that I have to ask for a schmear, (which is cheaper). And I love their iced coffee. I love their soups that are available after 11pm. And the prices are some of the best in the area. You can get a coffee and bagel for about $8.00. They also have coffee grounds you can purchase (you can ask them to grind the beans for you). If you want something like a salad, or their avocado toast (LOVEEE their avocado toast when I’m trying to eat less bagel) it is a little more $$. But overall I’m very satisfied for the service, the line moves fast even when there is a ridiculous line. I will say I wish they had a better system for if you want to call in an order. I’ve called ahead, but you still need to wait in line to pay once you get there which defeats the purpose. But I love uncommon grounds!!
