The Coffee Tree Roasters
5524 Walnut St, Pittsburgh, PA
Crema's Take
“The Coffee Tree Roasters stays open late by Pittsburgh standards, making it a reliable spot for evening coffee runs and evening study sessions with genuinely friendly baristas who actually seem happy to see you. Their espresso-focused menu shines with well-balanced shots that translate into solid lattes and excellent pour-overs, and they've got the kind of spacious, welcoming vibe—especially when their outdoor seating is open—that makes lingering over work feel natural rather than rushed.”

One of the few coffee shops in Pittsburgh that is open reasonably late. Coffee and food are good and the prices are fair. People working here are incredibly nice. Thank you for providing such a beautiful spot where I've already produced a significant chunk of the work towards my PhD. Pittsburgh is a better place because of you :)
I used to come here about four times a year to get whole beans. You could buy whole beans by the ounce and know what day they were roasted. Now, I was told they have no idea when the beans are roasted and the Colombian almost doubled in price to $43.48 per pound. That is insanely expensive. I am sad that after years of going, I can no longer afford the price. EDIT: Why does it taste like chemical cleaner? It used to be so good!
Friendly baristas, good & fast latte. Fun place to try. The cost is similar to Starbucks, but the coffee didn’t taste better than Starbucks. Tree’s medium latte is 5.15. Starbucks medium latte is 5.25. I won’t return.
i stopped here when i was in walnut street for a iced coffee and i have to say the coffee was really really good! it was the perfect balance between bitter and sweet and they had so many syrup options to choose from. i got the brown sugar syrup and it was the perfect amount of sweetness for my latte. the coffee shop is also relatively large and it has a nice atmosphere to get some work done!
Great space to do some work with pretty good coffee and snacks! I especially love when they open the space up with their outdoor seating, lots of space available for mostly students to come and do work, very pretty and homey! The coffee was a bit cold, but I liked their dark roast a lot! I also enjoyed their pecan roll, but all their pastries look solid, especially love that they have tazza doro food, another great spot. One of the best places to sit for awhile and study/do work!
