Le Bon Cafe
210 2nd St SE, Washington, DC
Crema's Take
“Le Bon Cafe captures that coveted European cafe feeling right next to the Capitol, making it an ideal spot to linger over a cappuccino and pastry between sightseeing or work meetings. The genuinely warm staff and fresh, well-executed food create an inviting atmosphere, though the snug table arrangement means you're sharing the experience as much as enjoying your own moment. It's the kind of neighborhood gathering spot where locals and visitors alike keep coming back for reliable coffee, honest hospitality, and that perfect seat to people-watch from.”

Lovely little place with a warm atmosphere. The boy cashier was incredibly friendly and cheerful. The food was delicious and the coffee was great.
Some say this cafe reminds them of cafes in Europe. Not quite IMO. My cappuccino was good, but I was surprised they served it in a paper cup with a plastic lid. That’s fine if I ordered it to go, but a reputable cafe serves coffee drinks in real mugs and glasses, not paper! My breakfast sandwich tasted good too. All in all, everything was fine, but I anticipated something a bit more refined.
I really wanted to relax and read my book here but the tables are so close that people talking next to you make it difficult to focus. Otherwise, the food was great and the people very friendly!
It was a busy spot at 10am but a good spot to see congress critters. Its right next to the capital. Coffee is hot, food fresh. If i am in dc, I will come back.
The cafe's location, next to Capitol and the Library of Congress, makes it unique. Prices and quality of food are good. My wife and I stepped in the cafe when it was full of people and there was a long line in front of us. I can say that professionalism, timing, and positive attitude that the personnel is able to support in such atmosphere have to be mentioned and recognized. I'd say that it's exactly the staff working there that make that place keep up with so many customers. And I really liked my cappuccino, it actually was the best one that I had in DC during two weeks of my visit there. A young guy made it fast but good. If you find yourself in Le Bon, try it.
