San Julian's Coffee

Crema's Take

San Julian's is a Winter Park gem that celebrates Colombian and Venezuelan coffee culture with genuine expertise, evident in their standout single-origins like their renowned Colombian brew and signature Campesino coffee with its intriguing lime-forward profile. Beyond impeccable espresso work, they've built a full experience around slow, intentional coffee moments paired with fresh pastries and Latin American baked goods—think perfectly crispy cheese empanadas and guava quesitos that match the care poured into every cup. It's the kind of place where you can taste how much they respect their origins, whether you're lingering with a specialty drink or grabbing fresh breakfast before your day begins.

I loved this coffee shop 🤍 The Colombian coffee was the best I’ve ever had you can truly taste the quality and authentic flavor. The food was delicious, everything fresh and well prepared. The service was excellent, very friendly and attentive the whole time. And the atmosphere… just perfect. Super comfy and cozy, ideal for spending time with friends or as a couple. Definitely a place I want to come back to ☕✨

The empandasand guava and cheese quesitos were fresh and delicious. The Campesino coffe had a rich and smooth but tangy flavor with the lime. It's a must try.

This morning I was able to go for breakfast here, I liked that you can get a varied menu with Colombian and Venezuelan food, I also tried the strawberry matcha of which is an 8/10 I have tried better ones but it is not bad, the attention was normal and considerable good and the more discreet was the atmosphere of the place. It's comfortable if you want to go read or work a couple of hours

Overall impression is that somebody had too much money, decided to open a coffee shop, but had never really worked at one let alone read a book on the subject. No sane person could argue about the appearance of the pastries and coffee in this place. Aesthetically, they're beautiful. But that's it. The chocolate croissant however, rather than being light and flaky, was painfully chewy. To boot, it was warm on the outside and tonge- searingly-molten hot in the middle. In other words: it had been microwaved. When I inquired about it being microwaved the girl told me flat out, "No, it was not." B.S. Microwaves do two things: they absolutely destroy the texture of bread and pastries and they don't heat evenly. The latte had so much milk I had to imagine what coffee used to taste like. Plus, because it was in a wide low cup it cooled way too quickly. As you look at the visual descriptions of various coffee proportions on the wall, the macchiato is absolutely wrong. They have their's as mostly milk with a little bit of coffee. The word "macchiato" in Italian means "marked". It is essentially espresso 'marked' with a little bit of foamy milk. Not the other way around. Can somebody please buy a book on coffee shop basics? To their credit, the place is clean and organized but there are far too few seats to ever consistently rely on availability when meeting friends here. So, there's something completely amiss about this whole operation. Overly concentrated on aesthetics while completely overlooking authenticity. Anyways, while possibly well-intentioned they have completely missed the mark on a couple of major issues. Hopefully they'll use this as an impetus for change.
