Crema's Take

Tisane brings a playful, nightclub-inspired vibe to San Jose's tea scene with creatively named specialty drinks like the Duke of Earl and their standout Roasted Oolong (Roast is History), making it worth a visit if you're curious about quality tea with personality. Fair warning though—reviews are genuinely mixed, with some customers raving about their signature creative drinks while others have experienced inconsistent execution and substitutions without notice, so your experience might depend on timing and which barista you get.

I ordered the duke of earl, the drink was good but I wish the employee would be more attentive to the customers. Had to stand in front of the front desk for minutes just to ask to buy more toppings cause the employees were standing behind the curtains chatting without hearing me for help!

I’ve had multiple instances where my drinks have been messed up. When they’re out of materials, they feel they can just add whatever they want to replace it without telling me. For instance, they gave me crystal boba instead of regular. When I asked them to remake it, they shrugged and said they were out of regular. The service is also very poor, and the workers curse out loud. When you politely ask for a remake, they roll their eyes and refuse to do it or pretend to. They always add my boba on top of my drinks, and recently, they got exactly two pieces of boba—one honey and one crystal—that I didn’t ask for. I understand that they might be out of materials, but it’s weird that they don’t put up a sign or inform customers when ordering. Then, they feel like they can just add whatever they want. Sometimes they just don’t add it. Why come to a boba shop if you’re not gonna get boba. I’ve spent almost $10 for a drink and waited 20 minutes for it just to be incorrect. They need to do better. The only reason I still visited this place is because they stay open late. It seems like the night staff is the issue. I wouldn’t recommend coming here, but if you still want to, I suggest coming in the morning or afternoon. I provided a more detailed response, but it seems like they’ve removed it. I’m disappointed.

There are such mixed reviews for this place, but I needed to try it for myself and I was pleasantly surprised. They serve quality tea with punny names, but their Roasted Oolong (Roast is History) was some of the best I've had in the Bay. Their fruit teas are on the sweeter side so would recommend 50%, but the Melon Rouge is quite good. The interior is really nice with black leather couches in three separate sections, perfect for larger groups. You mostly order on kiosks and they do offer DoorDash

Don’t get any drinks from here. The taste is terrible. I never had any milk tea that is worse than this. Feels like milk tea with artificial aroma oil! Disgusting 🤮 and sweat as hell! However the atmosphere is good. I like the concept of having a bar like boba place. You can come here for atmosphere but definitely not the drinks!!!

Tisane is located in San Jose, CA near raging waters and in an outdoor shopping center. Inside of the boba place looked like a nightclub theme which I thought was cool because you feel you're at a nightclub but you're not. This boba place felt more modern than other traditional boba shops I have been to and the drinks also gave it that “nightclub” feel which I thought was interesting. The staff was very nice to me and my friend and we got four of their new drinks which were their tiger milk, kiwi to my heart, bae-nana, and white rose. All of the drinks were refreshing and delicious and now, I will review all of the drinks. I will start with my favorite drink which was their bae-nana with grass jelly. I loved the banana flavor you get in this drink! Ahhh you really taste the ripe banana in this drink and the drink wasn’t too sweet for me. I liked the sugar level that was defaulted and the grass jelly was soft. Perfect topping on this drink! Loved the flavor a lot and overall, my favorite drink I highly recommend! The kiwi to my heart was the next drink I tried. I like the sweetness that the drink has and I thought it wasn’t too sweet. The strawberry hearts were a nice chewy addition to the drink however, I thought the drink needed more kiwi because I didn’t taste a strong flavor of kiwi. Not my favorite drink but it was nice to drink. The tiger drink with boba is their newest item on the menu. It features the brown sugar in the drink, creating a “tiger stripe” effect on the drink. I like how much brown was on the drink and then when you sip the drink, it was sweet and you get that brown sugar boba taste. I appreciate how the boba was fresh and soft; however, I thought the taste of the boba was too mushy for me. It wasn’t chewy and was more on the mushy side than when you really chew on the boba. I think they did overcook the boba however, the drink itself was really delicious. It satisfied my sweet cravings especially with that brown sugar tiger effect. The last drink I will review is their white rose. Loved this drink too because you do get that strong hit of rose when you sip the drink. They balanced the rose flavor with the sweetness very well and I thought the addition of the red hearts worked as well with this drink. The drink looks beautiful and the taste was excellent. Overall, I do like Tisane serving up modernized flavors while still keeping the traditional tea flavors in their drinks. This place also does a good job with following COVID safety guidelines and keeping their customers safe as they can. I highly recommend this place, this place is a must-try in the bay area!
