Crema's Take
“Tucked into San Francisco's coffee scene, this espresso-focused café excels at both precision drinks and exceptionally crafted pastries, with reviewers raving about flaky, buttery creations like kouign amann and spiced chickpea babka that pair beautifully with their medium roast. It's a lively gathering spot that fills with regulars enjoying everything from perfectly balanced cortados to creative breakfast plates, though be prepared that the refined offerings come with San Francisco pricing. The atmosphere strikes that sweet spot between serious coffee craftsmanship and approachable neighborhood warmth—ideal for lingering over a pour over or catching up with a friend.”

I ordered the latte and the spiced chickpea babka, and both were excellent. The pastry was beautifully flaky, light on the filling, and made with an exceptionally fluffy dough, generously topped with poppy seeds that added a subtle crunch. It felt indulgent without being heavy. The latte was equally enjoyable—rich, smooth, and finished with delicate latte art that made it feel thoughtfully prepared. The ambiance of the café is one of its strongest features. Despite being fairly crowded, the space feels airy and well designed, with a sense of openness that makes it easy to relax. It was the kind of place where you can comfortably spend the morning with a coffee, a pastry, and a book, without feeling rushed. They also offer physical newspapers to read, which adds to the old-school café charm, and they sell a wide selection of fresh breads and plenty of other baked goods and treats to take home. Dogs are not allowed inside, except for service animals, so pet owners will need to use the outdoor seating. Fortunately, the outdoor area is spacious and comfortable, weather permitting. One thing to note is that the café does not offer WiFi, so it’s better suited for unplugging rather than working remotely.
This is a cute coffee shop offering different varieties of toast and pastries. The kouign amman had richness embedded in every bite. It was flaky and paired well with their medium roast coffee. The ambiance is cute and it’s great spot for a date
Tuesday at 10:15am. The café was quite full of patrons drinking coffee and eating the $14 avocado toast. I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk to go. ~$8!!!! The taste was mild, not very strong. This NoPA neighborhood is well suited for well- and highly-paid tech workers. Not reasonably priced beverage or food. The patrons mostly had their laptops open and doing work. They were parked out and taking over space for people who just want to chill with a coffee or tea. This café needs a No laptops policy.
Good flaky pastries (some better than others), but the prices are beyond exaggerated. $17 for a slice of bread with very little on it is insane, especially for a trout toast that ended up being too salty. Ham and cheese croissant was flaky but lacking in filling, toma and squash bureka was also low on filling but very tasty, coffee chocolate crinkle cookie was good but way too expensive for one tiny cookie, and the babka was ok. Love that the place has outdoor seating which makes it dog friendly, but seating is limited, and the wait is very long. IMO - not worth it.
Stopped by The Mill and everything was a hit. The cortado was perfect — smooth, balanced, and just the right size. Food-wise: • The Egg in the Hole was the standout — that garlic butter on the country bread is next-level. • The smoked trout toast came in a close second, fresh and flavorful. • The hummus + cauliflower toast was good, just not as memorable as the others. Wrapped it all up with a slice of the persimmon cinnamon pistachio crumble cake, which was absolutely outstanding — warm, spiced, and perfectly textured. Great vibe, friendly staff, and beautifully executed menu. Will definitely be back.
