Crema's Take

This charming Windsor spot is where serious chocolate craftsmanship meets genuine coffee hospitality, with owner Lanny's infectious passion evident in every interaction. Beyond the expected lattes and pastries, High Desert Chocolates stands out for its artisan chocolate creations—from hand-dipped caramel apples to small-batch truffles in unexpected flavors like bananas foster and sea foam—making it the kind of indulgent destination where families can linger without guilt. The newness of the shop only adds to its energy, drawing in curious locals who come for the coffee but leave raving about the complete experience of chocolate, ice cream, and genuine warmth.

Stopped in during the wine walk and met Lanny. He was friendly and beaming with pride about his chocolate! Got a fun box of HDC that looked too good to pass up.

High Desert is a cute shop that combines your traditional coffee shop vibes with an artisan chocolate shop. We love going there when we feel like indulging, but you can skip the chocolate if you NEED to. Something about having a truffle with your morning coffee just hits differently. The coffee and chocolates are really good, but I don't think they make their own breakfast items, more of a heat-and-serve system. They are still tasty and well priced, so I'm not complaining. It would just truly set them apart If they had a full kitchen. Overall, you should check them out!

What an incredible shop! From chocolate to coffee to ice cream and milkshakes, HDC truly has it all. They just opened, so if you haven’t been in yet, you absolutely need to check it out. I came in during a long line, and while we were waiting, Shaunette handed out samples of her truffles to everyone, talk about top-tier hospitality. It’s also a perfect spot for gifts, especially with Valentine’s Day right around the corner. Even better, it’s an ideal stop for a coffee before or after a walk around Windsor Lake, with the shop being literally 500 feet from Boardwalk Park. I’ll definitely be back. 10/10.

I’m absolutely obsessed with High Desert Chocolates! Their coffee and chocolates are incredible. You also have to try their caramel apples! They’re so delicious! You also have to try and put your own photo on your drink! They also have amazing shakes and ice cream and other treats. Everything I’ve tried (and it’s admittedly been a lot) has been so good!

We just visited today. They had SO many yummy treats! We got a rocky road caramel apple, macadamia turtle, bananas foster truffle, French vanilla truffle, sea foam, and a dark choc dipped marshmallow. So GOOD!!! The service was great, and the store is so clean. They have beautiful wooden boxes to purchase, to display the truffles as gifts as well. We will for sure be back again, and again, and again.... I can't wait for warmer weather to try their shakes!!
