Crema's Take
“Mr Baklava is a Middle Eastern pastry destination in San Diego where baklava, kunafeh, and Turkish delights shine brightest, with customers raving about the variety and fresh quality of their house-made treats. The shop offers both Turkish and Arab versions of their specialty pastries alongside savory options like exceptionally tender shawarma, creating a welcoming spot for families and dessert enthusiasts to linger and sample multiple items. While pricing runs a bit high and consistency can vary across their counter selection, the creative flavor combinations like pistachio-chocolate baklava keep regulars coming back for that one perfect bite.”

I used to buy Turkish delights from them every single week. They’ve obviously changed the quality drastically for the worst. It’s absolutely disgusting and it is nothing like before. On top of that they don’t even have the decency to answer their business phone number for customers. You can see in the attached pictures that these are not the same Turkish delights as before. Trash.
Literally the best shawarma in all of California. I’ve never been a fan of tortilla wrapped shawarma but this was honestly so good, you couldn’t tell it was a tortilla wrap. The meat was so tender and juicy. It tasted so authentic. The cashier/owner (I don’t know who he was) was so nice and gave us some free baklava as well as the women sitting behind us. I would definitely go back the next time I’m in San Diego.
So much to choose from!! They all look so delicious and wanna try them all. Lol so far, have tried the Kunafa Pistacios and Pistachio brownie cake. Both are great!
Fresh and delicious baklava, kunafeh, and lokum (Turkish delights), and other desserts. Love how they have both Turkish kanafeh and Arab kanafeh, which were both delicious. They also have the viral Dubai chocolate which was delicious! Tiny shop located in the front corner of the Balboa International Market.
I got one of each baklava type dessert on the counter and they were hit or miss and expensive. That tray of 12 pieces was $28. Half of them tasted good, but only the chocolate/pistachio one was great. Multiple pieces tasted old and had bitter tasting filling. Maybe I didn’t understand some of the things I ordered, but they were not consistently pleasing.
