Crema's Take

Greenhouse Coffee Bar & Eatery has recently undergone new ownership under Moongoat, bringing fresh energy to this Costa Mesa gathering spot known for its calming, positive vibes and stylish-yet-comfortable interior. Beyond solid specialty coffee and traditional drinks, they distinguish themselves with creative offerings like house-made original sodas and a customizable food program featuring fresh bowls, salads, and wraps that lean toward the healthier side of casual dining. It's a genuinely social space where people linger comfortably, though fair warning: service can lag during busy hours as the team stretches to keep up with demand.

I used to love Greenhouse, but since it was recently taken over by Moongoat, it’s definitely changed. For starters, there’s always been a bit of a parking issue. Of course you can go across the street for the structure and they validate for 2 hours, but not ideal. I also saw an employee park in the only remaining front row 20 minute parking when I most recently visited. Not a good look. The vibes here are immaculate. There are plants everywhere, a variety of seating areas and styles. The lighting that comes through during the day is also gorgeous. However, I would come here before it was a Moongoat and they had such a variety of things to eat—poke bowl, tacos, really great light bite options considering it was a cafe. I think you could even make your own bowl or salad. But now, it’s sterilized and predictable: oatmeal, pastries, basic salads you can find literally anywhere, avocado toast, etc. The only really unique items on the food menu are the bahn mi and the peach ricotta toast. I haven’t tried the latter, but their bahn mi is pretty good. But if I’m coming to a cute vibey cafe, I want to food to be great, too. See there are lots of cute cafes in OC to work at. I used to come here because I knew I’d have my choice of great food with the great vibes. Now? I’d be just as happy going elsewhere, or just staying home (and that’s saying something because I live 3 minutes away). So overall, I’m disappointed that the unique food is quality of greenhouse has disappeared. I’ll likely not be back as often.

Great stop for lunch or mid morning. We enjoyed their coffee bar and original sodas. They had delicious bowls and option to make your own salad or wrap. Sort of like healthy version of Chipotle style…we liked everything we had! Nice outdoor space and beautiful decor inside.

Currently in LA for the first time visiting my sister and she LOVES this place and decided to take me. Right off the bat, the atmosphere and vibes were calming and positive. The food was AMAZING. My sister and I got the bacon fried rice and the berry and ricotta toast to share and our mom got the bacon avocado toast. All three were very delicious and very fresh. I would recommend this to any local or visitor!

Been here a few times and have not had any issues or problems at all! The only thing is that the service is a bit slow as there seems to be a lack of employees for the number of people that come here during brunch hour or after. However, the coffee and food were pretty solid! I always go for the Match or Chai latte with a little vanilla and solid! Great flavor, good sweetness, and not too much sweetness. As far as food, the sandwiches and bowls are good! Always add chicken! Definitely recommended! Pricing is a bit steep for what you get and I think they can adjust that a bit to make more sense since the amount of meat you get is sometimes laughable but good flavor at least. Wouldn't exactly recommend it as a coffee shop or brunch, but it is more so convenient to have food and coffee for a study/work area during a break!

I recently visited Greenhouse Coffee Bar and Eatery in Costa Mesa to meet a friend for coffee, and it was a delightful experience. The interior design is both stylish and comfortable, making it a perfect spot for catching up or simply relaxing. The ambiance is inviting, and the seating arrangements are well thought out. I'll definitely be bookmarking this place and look forward to returning soon.
