Gospel Coffee and Boozy Treats
501 Tchoupitoulas St, New Orleans, LA
Crema's Take
“Tucked in the Kimpton Fontenot Hotel lobby, Gospel Coffee strikes that rare balance between a cozy neighborhood hangout and a serious espresso destination, where the crew genuinely makes you feel at home. Their cortados and espresso-forward drinks are crafted with care, but what really sets them apart is the thoughtful spread of sweet and savory pastries alongside creative breakfast fare that goes beyond the typical coffee shop fare. It's the kind of place locals fiercely protect as their own—unpretentious, genuinely warm, and built on real hospitality rather than hype.”

Went to grab a coffee with my significant other on 12/20/25. There were 3 ladies working there. The 2 ladies, 1 with blue colored hair and the other 1 with glasses, working the counter were super sweet. Helped me choose something warm and tasty. The other lady with curly hair and glasses, was very rude to other guest that were in the shop. She was really dismissive of the other guest and myself. It didn't seem like she wanted to be there. Overall my experience was subpar. The coffee we had was delicious and the banana bread and rice krispy treats were absolutely amazing.
Great spot with delicious sweet and savoury pastry goods, wraps and more in the heart of downtown New Orleans Our group went for breakfast and had a range of items including wraps, breakfast yoghurt pots, pastries and more. I had a yoghurt pot which was nice and well balanced with its constituent components, as well as a cinnamon and pecan boozy bun. This was a decadent treat and I enjoyed it highly, and the alcoholic flavour did really add an interesting element to the palate. It seemed quite expensive, but still gaining a feel for the area and wouldn’t be surprised if everywhere is like that in this country of big things, including prices.
Its in the lobby of the Kimpton Fotenot Hotel. Parking is on the street or in any lot in the area valet might only be for hotel guests. Its a plain no frills coffee shop with good service. The quiche wasn't that great, but the chorizo burrito was pretty good. The coffee drink wasn't that flavorful, but it was ok. Its not the type of coffee shop geared to lounging for hours. Its a quick hotel lobby stop in place. Location to other downtown attractions isnt that bad actually
Oh.My.Goodness! I have walked past this spot plenty of times, but never went in because I thought it was only about cocktail-styled drinks. Fortunately my photographer is much more adventurous than I am, and convinced me to give it a try. The nicest people, top quality coffee and Chai Lattes, but really won me over was the Pimento Cheese Quiche. Delicious crust, just enough of a bite withe the pimento, but it didn't overpower the egg mixture which made for the perfect blend. The perfect place to start or end your day while supporting a wonderful locally owned business.
Gospel Coffee is one of those places you almost want to keep to yourself. Kyle, Zach, and Jordan make you feel so at home—it’s cozy, warm, and welcoming in the best way. The cortado was absolutely perfect, and the lattes never miss. There’s just something about this place that makes it special. Highly recommend, even though part of me doesn’t want to share!
