Tatte Bakery & Cafe | West End
1200 New Hampshire Ave NW, Washington, DC
Crema's Take
“This West End spot is a beautifully designed gathering place with generous seating that feels equally suited for a solo work session or catching up with a friend over the Tatte House Latte. The real draw here is the impressive pastry case—tiramisu that's classically balanced, fresh raspberry cake, and inventive cookies studded with pistachio and cranberries that reviewers genuinely rave about—though it's worth knowing the prices lean toward the premium side. The warm service and immaculate space make it easy to linger, even if you're just popping in for a quick call.”

Tatte Bakery & Cafe is very pretty and has plenty of seating, so it’s a nice place to sit or meet someone. They also have a large dessert selection. However, it’s expensive for what you get. Two people can easily spend around $35, which makes it hard to justify when other coffee shops nearby offer good food and drinks for much less. The drink options also felt limited. There weren’t many iced tea choices, and the coffee was just okay and quite acidic with few syrup options. They also got our order wrong even though we clearly asked for two iced coffees. Overall, it feels more like a place for the aesthetic and atmosphere than somewhere I’d go regularly.
Popped in for the Tatte House Latte and to take a quick call, lots of seating, all the food is gorgeous and delicious. Service was warm and friendly, the restaurant was exceptionally clean. The music was a tad louder than I’d like… people raised their voices to be able to communicate, but could be chicken vs egg. Overall a wonderful experience!
Stopped here for breakfast one day while on a work trip in DC and the food and service was excellent. I was looking for somewhere for a simple meal with seating, and this cafe was it. Not only that but the food and coffee were amazing and exceeded my expectations! I recommend here for anyone who is looking for something simple to start their day!
We ordered three mini cakes and they were all spot on. The tiramisu was classic and well-balanced, the raspberry cake with cream was fresh and delicious, and the chocolate cake was rich and smooth without being too heavy. The smoked salmon dish was also a standout—crispy, golden, and full of flavor. Big thanks to Thomas for the great service—friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. Would definitely come back!
What an amazing variety of deserts and pastries! Everything is so fresh and delicious. I tried the mixed nuts pastry, superb! Also their cookies with pistachio and cranberries are out of this world. Service is good and seating area inside is very pretty and spacious.
