Crema's Take

Backyard Café is a cozy, design-forward spot hidden inside a boutique hotel with strong aesthetics, comfortable seating, and genuinely good food—but the 3.8 rating reflects real friction points: inconsistent service speed, prices that feel high for the neighborhood (fresh OJ at $13), and the awkward fact that it's genuinely hard to find tucked inside a residential hotel. If you're in Santa Clara specifically looking for a comfortable place to sit for hours with decent coffee and reliable breakfast, it works; if you're hunting for great specialty coffee or efficient service, look elsewhere.

What to expect

Espresso-focused. A slow-sit, laptop-friendly spot, good for meetings. Full breakfast and light food on the menu.

Beautiful cafe with lots of seating inside. They have couches and chairs with tables. Also has bar stools. The coffee was excellent! It might be hard to find but look for house A and the cafe is inside it.

Cute cafe adjoining hotel. Food was good, though took a bit long to arrive. The burrito sauce was great. Prices were ok. I did balk at $13 for fresh squeezed OJ Good place to chill and read, good mix of eating tables, studying tables, and couches/seats.

We tried the pork belly with glass noodles as well as a tuna poke salad. Both were super good, especially dressing for the like salad and the tenderness of the pork bellies. Decor was also cute with nice servers as well

⭐ Honest Review I was drawn to this property for the café, restaurant, and its very unique lobby design. We started our visit with breakfast at the café, where I ordered a hazelnut latte and the breakfast sandwich. The coffee was excellent — smooth and flavorful — but the…
