Crema's Take
“This tiny, beloved hole-in-the-wall is famous for its exceptional chocolate chip cookies that have earned a devoted following, but don't sleep on their sandwiches—the Bird on Fire is a local favorite that keeps people coming back. The owner is genuinely present and personable, remembering regular customers by name while the team moves with impressive speed and warmth even during the lunch crush. It's the kind of intimate spot where fresh, quality ingredients and real hospitality make every visit feel special.”

I cannot say enough great things about this place! The food is always fresh and amazing, the staff is always working hard to get out orders quickly during the lunch rush while delivering superior customer service. Nikki runs a great shop, you won’t be disappointed.
Small cafe with lovely service and good sandwiches, the chocolate chip cookie is a little cakey 9/10.
10/10 for their sandwiches, cookies, and hospitality. The bird on fire sandwich is my favorite. Don’t skip the cookies they are incredible. The owner is always there and super nice. Remembers your name, treats you like a regular. All the staff are joking together. It’s rare to find that now that every thing is a chain/franchise. I will always be a patron of blunch and I’m so glad it’s in this neighborhood.
Such a wonderful hole-in-the-wall. Seriously, I mean that with all the best intention. It is an iconic spot for BMC-era. Not only is it literally a hole in the wall … very small, it’s also so yummy and so reasonably priced. The service is always quick and pretty consistent. They have a pretty vast menu for being so small and so busy, and it really works for them. I love to treat myself to one of their sandwiches when I’m working, as well as one of their world famous chocolate chip cookies. Drool!!! They’re actually not world famous, but they definitely should be. Probably the best chocolate chip cookie I’ve ever had.
Heard Blunch had the best chocolate chip cookies, so I had to check it out. I can happily report that the Triple Chocolate Chip Cookie ($3.27) truly was the best chocolate chip cookie that I’ve had in Boston. It had the perfect crunchiness all around while still maintaining a slightly chewy center. The chocolate chips were also huge and nicely melted. Also, as heavy as this cookie was, it somehow wasn’t sickly sweet like other dense cookies that I’ve tried. I do think the price is a bit high, but it’s probably for the better that there’s something to stop me from getting this too often. Unlike other cafes, this place isn’t open on weekends, so plan accordingly. The inside is very small, but people knew not to block the flow of traffic. There is also some outdoor seating. There is a $5 minimum for credit cards.
