Crema's Take

Pura Vida brings creative, globally-inspired flavors to Bakersfield with drinks like Dulce de Leche coffee, Dubai Chocolate Latte, and Mazapan that go beyond the standard espresso menu. When the team is on their game—especially with staff like Jose who genuinely make your day—the specialty drinks and warm hospitality shine, though consistency seems to be a work in progress. It's a cozy spot for meeting up if you're craving something more adventurous than typical coffee shop fare, just know that execution can be hit or miss.

I just ordered and i am so disappointed with the quality of their food. I ordered two breakfast burritos and the first bite that I took it literally tasted like sulfur. It tasted like it had been sitting out or has been in the fridge for too long. The burrito was soggy at the bottom and the tasted old. I paid for two medium drinks and two burritos and it costed 30 dollars. the quality of their food did not meet the the price point!!! I wanted to support a local business but sadly, I felt like my money should've went next-door to McDonald's and I would've gotten better quality food. Their Matcha that I ordered as well was just one scoop of Matcha powder and the rest was milk. The only thing that was halfway decent was the lavender latte but three out of four items and paying $30 is not acceptable!!!

I've come here several times and have tried different coffee drinks. This time we ordered a honey cloud latte. The drink did not look like the picture. It was mostly milk and some kind of coffee whip at the top. Even after trying to mix the drink with my straw it still was mostly milk. This drink was terrible and not as advertised. The only good thing here is the breakfast sausage sandwich which is pretty decent. The filling station across the street is solid. Go there instead.

Finally got to try their Dulce de Leche coffee this morning and was met with fantastic customer service! Jose totally made my morning with his friendly demeanor! He asked if I like matcha and although I said no, he gave me their top seller, strawberry matcha and completely changed my mind! I will definitely be going back!

Ive been wanting to try this place and I prefer to support small business but this place is not it. The staff was by herself and clearly inexperienced and needed support/further training. My guava pastry had what I think is mold on it and I saw on a menu post that they had a drink with sweet milk and marshmallow syrup. I saw it was no longer on the menu and the staff said they don’t know how to make it. I said that was okay and ordered a latte with oat milk and marshmallow syrup. I got marshmallow flavored milk. I honestly would have thought they forgot to add coffee except the bottom quarter of my drink was warm. Still didn’t taste like coffee but it was warm.

I came here for the first time. I liked how they have different flavor options than the typical coffee shop for example mazapan, flan, dubai chocolate. I ordered a Dubai Chocolate Latte and a Masapan Frapp, with a banana bread muffin and a cream cheese and jalapeño roll. Its on a busy street so it gets loud and have to repeat yourself... I felt confused because I had seen cars around the building on the other side, but the business has 2 windows.. My husband preferred the masapan Frap as he said was less sweet.
