Crema's Take
“Corto is an espresso-focused haven where you'll find genuinely top-tier shots at fair prices, drawing regulars who come back specifically for the quality of the coffee. The vibe is chill and welcoming—ideal for settling in with your laptop or meeting a friend over a light bite, though the food leans meat-heavy if you're looking for lighter options. Fair warning: while the espresso and some staff members are wonderful, experiences can be inconsistent, so you might want to time your visit wisely.”

Update — February 2026: 🌟🌟 I truly don’t understand what their problem is. 💔 The coffee is delicious, but the service and attitude have become infuriating. The baristas consistently act arrogant and dismissive. It feels like you’re stupid for simply wanting a coffee. They don’t even maintain a neutral tone; they gesture instead of speaking and barely acknowledge you. I’ve seen it happen to other customers too, so it’s not just us. This past Sunday around 12–1pm, We ordered a double shot espresso, cappuccino, 2 danish (soooo yum)(pains me to have horrible barista interactions when their coffee is so good) My boyfriend ordered a double shot espresso. We prefer getting it in the dine in glass cups instead of to-go cups, so we already had the small shot glass at our table. I was sitting down and when he came back to our table, it looked like a single shot. He had paid for a double. He went back to clarify with the barista — the one who looks like Benny Blanco — and was told that what he was given was a double shot. No explanation, barely any words, just gestures and asking for the receipt.🫴🏼 At that point we were already tired of the constant inconveniences that seem to happen every time we go. ✨We genuinely want it to work because the coffee is good.✨ I suggested comparing the liquid difference visually, but my boyfriend ended up speaking to the owner instead. The owner told the barista to remake the double. 🍷It was then served in a wine glass, which honestly felt like a passive-aggressive move. As we were leaving, the 🤌🏻Benny Blanco look-alike barista was staring my boyfriend down. When my boyfriend asked if there was a problem, he backed off and said no. ❌We swear this was the last time. The coffee is great, but the repeated attitude makes it not worth it.❌ I don’t understand how corto staff can be so cold when the owner is a likeable person???? We’re not expecting ritz Carlton treatment. Just the basic neutral positive tone and energy. Cheers and good luck in finding positivity Corto baristas!🍀 ⸻ Update — October 2025: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 We almost go every weekend or every other weekend. This time I tried their frozen yogurt. As a frozen yogurt fanatic, we did not like it. It was kind of heavy but watery at the same time — just not quite right. Not a fan. 🙌🏼The cappuccinos, on the other hand, are still so good. Truly delicious. ⸻ Original Review- September 2025: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Corto Brooklyn is one of my favorite coffee spots. The Severini focaccia with a cappuccino (I always ask for a bit of honey) is my go-to combo — so delicious. It’s about $25 per person for coffee and a sandwich.🍳 It does get busy, but it’s absolutely worth the wait. I especially love sitting outside on the sidewalk terrace, it makes the experience even better. A true neighborhood gem.🩷
Have come here a few times because the espresso it’s top tier and fairly priced. First time ordering food, it is definitely slightly overpriced when you can get a sandwich at the deli next store. But quality of items is extremely good. I will say my focaccia breakfast sandwich was tasty, but $2 extra for like 1 piece of ham was crazy ridiculous. Also my partner was trying to ask the barista for something and the guy just ignored her and a woman came to ask what was needed. I will say whoever is making that food is a great guy and even checked up on the quality. Owner is also very friendly and i get a kick out of his responses to entitled customers! Overall a very decent coffee and lunch spot in brooklyn
The cashier with the blue eyes is so lovely, just the most wonderful service! The sandwiches are fantastic but meat-heavy. And specifically pork-heavy. I wish they had more veg or tuna or chicken options. The bundt cake was really good and the ambience is nice. Comfortable and not stuffy.
This review is about sustainability only! By 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Over 95% of the plastic that we produce and consume does not actually get recycled, but rather ends up in landfills, incinerators, in our oceans, and in our bodies as microplastics. While I am happy to see that your shop offers for-here, reusable mugs and plate ware and cutlery to customers, it seems that no one knows to ask for them. Not one person in your coffee shop the other day was drinking out of a multi-use, real cup. Instead, those who were there to work, meet a friend, or read a book, were drinking out of cups made from fossil fuels. Even when ordering a drink in a mug for here, I still got my drink in a throwaway plastic cup. I think there would be some simple fixes like being clear with your customers to see if they are staying for their beverage. And then making sure they get the reusable. Or perhaps, at least you can promote the availability of real mugs, or incentivize people to bring their own, on your socials. Because I see that you offer real plates for people eating a snack here, I can assume that you would have the capacity to offer and clean real mugs. But we can’t continue to normalize such a rampant and reckless use of plastic every single day. Especially here in this waterfront city. Thank you for listening to my concerns, and thinking about how both the customer and the purveyor can work together toward a healthier Brooklyn. The plastic waste crisis will not solve itself, and we need businesses and customers on board to mitigate it.
Among our clients on Supp, Corto is probably one of my favorites, and not just because I am Italian lol The vibes are super chill. This is an awesome spot to have a small bite, do some remote work, and, most importantly, get your mid-afternoon caffeine boost with a nice, good espresso. They also have a small garden in the back with more seating and a wine bar that I haven't had the pleasure of trying yet. I have to come back on a Friday afternoon, so I don't feel guilty about having a drink while working. Ciao a presto :)
