Crema's Take
“Nestled in Tampa's historic Ybor district, this 110-year-old Cuban bakery is beloved for its impossibly fresh Cuban bread baked daily and generously stuffed Cuban sandwiches that locals swear by. The bustling cases overflow with traditional pastries and light bites, creating an authentic Tampa experience that feels like stepping into the city's cultural heart. It's the kind of place where every regular's enthusiasm is justified, and a quick coffee stop becomes a mandatory pilgrimage for anyone visiting.”

La Segunda is a must stop when you’re in Tampa for a visit. There are a few locations but the Ybor location is the one to visit if you’re trying to get a traditional “Tampa” feel. Just ask the locals! This is not a dine-in location. You can pick up a delicious pastry, traditional Cuban sandwich, cafe con leche and so much more. The guava an cheese pastry was delicious!
This was our first time at La Segunda, and it did not disappoint! We found it on Google a few months ago and said that if we ever made it to Tampa, we had to stop by — and wow, we’re so glad we did. The food is amazing, especially the Cuban sandwich. We’ve tried Cuban sandwiches all over the East Coast, and none come close to this one on the West Coast. We loved it so much we ordered ten to take home! We will definitely be back. Thank you!
La Segunda Bakery and Cafe is an absolute Tampa classic and a must-visit spot. Incredible Cuban bread baked fresh daily, amazing sandwiches, pastries, and coffee that never disappoint. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and made with care. The atmosphere is authentic, the staff is friendly and efficient, and it’s always a great place to grab breakfast, lunch, or coffee with friends or coworkers. A true staple in the community and one of the best bakeries and cafes in Tampa. Highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic Cuban food, fresh baked bread, and a local spot that’s been doing it right for generations.
Any place that thrives for 110 years is on to something right. But what is that "right" thing? To me, for this group of bakeries, it's the most incredible bread I've ever had on a Cuban sandwich. The pork tends to be pulled rather than sliced, the secret sauce which appears to be a mixture including mustard and mayo is excellent, the perfect thin slice of Genoa salami as is customary in the Tampa cubans, etc., but it's the bread. While I didn't have any of the pastries it certainly looks like they know what they're doing in that arena too. There are lots of great Cuban sandwiches and this is certainly among the top. Wishing them another hundred years.
This place was humming right along. The food cases looked like you would want 1 of everything. We did get a Cuban and a few other pastries to go. The Cuban was wonderful with no flavors over powering another. My wife was only going to have a bite or 2 and she ate the other half of the sandwich. I would definately go back, plan ahead as to what you may want.
