Crema's Take

Bakehaus is a European-leaning bakery and cafe in downtown Belmont where co-owner Brian treats every interaction—whether you're ordering a cold brew or catering your wedding—with genuine care and expert suggestions. Beyond their stellar coffee program, they're known for authentic Austrian touches like perfectly executed schnitzel and an impressive array of fresh pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and parfaits that keep regulars coming back. It's a walkable neighborhood spot with comfortable indoor and outdoor seating that feels equally suited for a quick coffee date or a lingering meal.

I catered a holiday/birthday dinner from Bakehaus. I spoke to Brian (co-owner) directly during the process. He was kind and professional. The food was enjoyed by all of my guests - perfect Beef Wellington, sides and cake. The price is well calibrated to the portion sizes and quality. Unlike some catering operations, Bakehaus did not skimp by shrinking the costly main (Beef Wellington) while filling bellies with distracting, low-cost sides. The main was perfectly done and presented, and importantly, generously portioned - making it the sort of impressive main you expect at a nice holiday gathering. If you order from Bakehaus, you don't have to have host anxiety ("did I order enough?"). Of note, we had also ordered from Bakehaus for Thanksgiving this year, and were equally wowed then. My family also took part in their Gingerbread house event, which the kids loved. In other words, this was not a one-off success, but a clear pattern of excellence that makes me commit my loyalty to this local business.

Bakehaus catered a gathering of 40 people for my family and everything was great starting with the sit down Brian to discuss the order. He was very attentive and his suggestions were on point as well as his recommendations for quantities. The food (especially the apple tart) was delicious and presented beautifully. I would definitely return to Bakehaus for a catering.

After a trip to Vienna, I’ve been craving schnitzel for months. If prepared correctly, schnitzel won’t make you feel gross despite being deep-fried. My bar wasn’t really high for any German restaurants outside of Europe, but I still expected something more than what I got from this place. It didn’t have that bright, crunchiness, and tenderness I expected.

Their breakfast sandwiches look phenomenal and they have so many pastries and parfaits and such, but I just got a cold drink. I’ll love their 8oz Natalie’s juices!!! This time I got a Tangerine and Ginger sparkling water. I wish I could feed my tiny bird friends!!! They’re so damn cute!!!! Much more polite than seagulls at the beach. It’s truly lovely at the 8 or so outdoor tables with umbrellas, and the indoor tables have fresh cut flowers!!!

Great bakery in downtown Belmont! Easy to get to walking, via the bus, or by car - there's a decent amount of parking spots nearby. In addition to the inside seating, there's outside tables for when the weather is nice. The theme is German/Dutch food, so the food items reflect that. There's stroopwaffels and schnitzels available, along with standard American breakfast items as well. The pricing is also average for the area, which makes this a quaint and wonderful café to check out ! Cannot wait to come back.
