The store is bright and clean with limited tables. The madeleines are about $5 each piece on average. The slice cakes are from about $8 to $13 each piece, not cheap. We got the Earl Grey, Lemon & Lime, and Churro madeleines. The Earl Grey one has some earl grey filling inside and it's very good. You can definitely taste the earl grey flavor. The Lemon and Lime madeleine is excellent. It is very fragrant and you can tell they use fresh lemon and lime to make it. There's also some lime zest on top. The Churro one is the most dense and heaviest in terms of texture. Despite it's with cinnamon and sugar coating, it's not that sweet. It seems a bit dried though. Will return to try other items.
I’ve been wanting to try the viral Dubai chocolate chewy cookie and was pleasantly surprised to find out I didn’t have to drive all the way to the city for it! They limit 2 per customer on weekends which I appreciate. It was soft and chewy on the outside but crunchy, nutty, and sweet on the inside. The other pastries looked amazing too but I didn’t get to try them. Wish there was more seating/cozier cafe ambiance. I will be back to try the madeleines!
I visited Gu eum Cake and Bakery on a Monday around 3:40 PM. It wasn't busy and the bakery case had a lot of options available. We tried the salted chocolate financier, hojicha black sesame brittle cake, and Korean latte. The financier and cake were both good, but I felt like the latte just tasted like a sweetened latte. I'm not sure what flavor they were going for. However, the bakery is not dog friendly (clearly posted on their doors). We had our dog with us so we did not bring him inside. I asked the employee if we could use two stools they had in the bakery that were stacked in a corner so we could sit and eat our purchase outside. She told us no. Honestly I was a bit surprised by that. I wanted to respect the rules of the establishment, but I thought as paying customers, they would try to accommodate our request. They did not have any other customers at the time so no one was using the stools. I know they don't have to accommodate my request, but I was a bit disappointed that they wouldn't let us use two stools to eat our purchase outside. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at Gu-eum again. I thought the food was good, but not extraordinarily special.
I ordered a custom birthday cake from them, and everything from the ordering process to the cake itself was outstanding! The sweet potato flavor was rich yet perfectly balanced—not overly sweet. The cake truly made our day extra special and memorable.
I ordered the Lemon Curd Sponge Cake for my mother’s birthday, and it was absolutely perfect. The cake was light, moist, and had just the right amount of sweetness with a refreshing lemon flavor. My mom loved it, and so did everyone else. The owner and staff were incredibly kind and professional throughout the process. The store has a beautiful interior - elegant, clean, and thoughtfully designed. It made the whole experience feel even more special. Highly recommend this place for quality of their cakes and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. I’ll definitely be coming back for future celebrations.
