The Moka Pot

Crema's Take

The Moka Pot has earned serious loyalty in Manchester for their inventive seasonal lattes—think Red Velvet and creative flavor combinations that actually taste heavenly rather than gimmicky—paired with genuinely excellent espresso work and a notably warm, welcoming staff. The breakfast and light food menu punches above its weight with standout items like their celebrated hash browns and buttery cheese Danish, making it the kind of place where regulars confidently try something new each visit. It's a true sit-and-linger spot with great decor in its relatively new Elm Street home, perfect for studying or catching up with friends over coffee that lives up to the hype.

I've come here a few times since they moved into where City Hall Pub used to be. The service is fantastic. Everyone is so nice. I try a new flavor latte each time and they've all been good. Breakfast sandwiches are hot and fresh as well. It's becoming one of my favorite cafés in the city. The only complaint I have is they removed the vestibule that used to be there. Cold air rushes in when the door opens, so I try to sit on the other side of the dining area to avoid having to wear my jacket while Im inside.

Best cheese Danish I've ever had! Perfect texture and not too sweet. Love the new location's decor and furniture. As always, delicious coffee and tea, friendly staff, and an overall welcoming atmosphere.

Food: 5 stars. I got the McManch which is basically a better McGriddle. Very filling, skipped lunch after this one. The coffee is amazing! I tried their Red Velvet latte which was heavenly. Service: SUPER nice people, very welcoming. Atmosphere: immaculate. I could chill there all day. Dim lights, nice furniture, chill music. Great vibes.

Great place to study. Best hash browns I’ve ever had (a must for this cafe), good coffee. Bit pricey, if you’re used to fast food, but otherwise reasonably priced. Food menu is a tad limited, but this is my only complaint (their menu used to be less limited until a recent change) One downside is that the cafe might not be best for large groups. They have a table in the center that can accommodate maybe 5 people, maybe 6, but it’s pushing it. This cafe is best to go to either on your own or with 1-2 friends, imo. Food, coffee comes out at a reasonable speed. Maybe just a few minutes—I’ll order, sit down and a few minutes later my food and drink are ready, it’s brought over to me. Of course this all depends on how busy it is, but I haven’t seen anyone wait more than say 10 minutes myself. You can also order in advance for an on-the-go order if time is a concern. I recommend street parking on Sunday (free), all other days I recommend parking at Victory Park Parking Garage. Just a 5 minute walk away, $1/hr parking. 9/10 for what it is: a small, cozy cafe serving coffee and some breakfast, on a corner of elm street.

Finally got the chance to try The Moka Pot and see what the hype around these lattes are. Located on Elm, be prepared to walk a little bit, as parking (especially on the weekends) can be hard to find. But inside the establishment, it is bright and welcoming. Plenty of tables to hang or work at with a nice view of city hall. I went and got 2 of their signature drinks - the Manchester by the Sea and Smore for Me. We did ours half sweet and thank goodness. The half sweet was plenty enough. But the flavor was phenomenal! The sea salt and caramel and coconut flavors of the Manchester by the sea really blended well together with the subtle hint of the espresso. The smore was a great sweet drink that packed flavor and amazing presentation (and a lot of marshmallows) Overall, I highly recommend this place. Their normal coffee too is really good. I think my only critique I would have is the price for milk substitutions(we paid $1 to do oat milk per drink, brining our total to an $8 drink). Outside of that, I really look forward to coming back again soon!
