The chicken sandwich was very tasty, however the BLT missed the mark with very little bacon and tomato. Price was too high for portion size. Pleasant, quiet environment inside small airport. No espresso/lattes but decent selection of refrigerated bottled drinks.
The food here is sooooooo good. I had a bagel and a breakfast sandwich (Avocado toast). It's still memorable to me now, how fresh both of them tasted. I'm glad I went to the airport a little early and spent some time there. The people are also very friendly and accommodating. Definitely try if you are in and around the area.
This is at the Walla Walla Airport. So close to my house. I love the owners and their family that is here and there on occasion. Very nice people. Quality food! And it's fun to watch the airplanes offload their tiny group of passengers. (I hear from locals that they need to get the Seattle Alaska Airlines service to and from back to three flights. Vital for the local economy in Walla Walla!) Love that little Airport! I adore that Bakery. I will be a regular once I get situated in my new home.
A STORY OF HARD WORKING AMERICANS, WITH INNOVATIVE IDEAS, WHO NEVER GAVE UP ON THEIR DREAMS.... INSPIRING. This review is based solely on my experience and personal opinion. I went to the Hidden Valley Bakery on a Friday morning, 12/3/21, and it was my very first time. In one of my many duty trips I just happen to find myself at the Walla Walla airport... 3 hours before my scheduled flight. I was the ONLY passenger at the airport and I decided to have a nice breakfast and relax. At the Walla Walla airport there is a Bakery with a unique and very interesting story, the "Hidden Valley Bakery". I walked in and I had the chance to meet and talk to the entire family.... three generations. The server/bartender is their daughter, the pastry chef is the father and the lady that takes the orders is the Mother; oh, and I cant forget the cute little girl who entertains you with her poses while you are eating your breakfast. Here is the story: The Walla Walla airport is a small regional airport that operates on a seasonal basis and survives on regular passengers, not many, that now provides two flights per day only. Quite a few cafeterias tried to survive here at the Walla Walla airport, but due to the nature of the business, surviving on passengers only, hence highly fluctuating income, they all eventually closed down or moved out. The Hidden Valley Bakery's family went to the airport management and proposed a new business model, something revolutionary that would meet both the airport and the family needs. The new model consist of a Cafeteria with a full blown bakery built inside it, so inside the airport building. The Bakery produces many different products all year round and they sell their goods to the nearby businesses and communities; this guarantees a steady income for the Hidden Valley Bakery's family (which allows them to keep the Cafeteria open) and allows the Walla Walla airport's management to keep providing food service at the airport. The Hidden Valley Bakery idea has proven to be successful by a 7 years, to date, collaboration with the airport. Isn't it a Christmas story? The story was told to me by the owner's wife and it got stuck to my head.... a story of hard working Americans, with creative ideas that never gave up on their dreams. Inspiring and Magic..... that's what the Hidden Valley Bakery/Cafeteria is. I had a lovely time there and the old style look gives you a sense of family and comfort that warms you up even on a cold winter day. FOOD: I had one Cappuccino, one Blueberry tart and 2 croissants.... everything was absolutely delicious. I loved the Blueberry tart... Knowing that what you are eating is made right there where you are eating gives your food a special taste... a unique flavor that blends in with a sent of history and a sprinkle of magic. PLACE: While you have breakfast you have an amazing view over the airport runway and over the Bakery equipment. just amazing!! CONCLUSIONS: a genuine and unique family-run bakery..... where tradition and hard work are the main ingredients... You have to try it to understand.
The owner was personable and kind. The gluten free options are out of this world. It had been years since I had a donut or fritters. Their gluten free tarts and muffins are also not to be missed! They also understand food allergies beyond just gluten. Highly recommend, and be sure to load up before you leave.
