Crema's Take

Union Street Coffee Roastery pulls off something rare: a neighborhood spot that consistently nails espresso-forward drinks without the pretension or inconsistency that plagues most San Francisco cafes. Some regulars rave about it being the best in the city, though opinions swing wildly depending on the day and what you order—the cappuccino foam and pastries can be genuinely excellent, but you might also hit an off day where the croissant feels heavy or the coffee tastes forgettable. It's a solid, quiet place to land with decent pastries and reliable service, perfect if you're in the area but not necessarily worth hunting down from across town.

What to expect

Espresso-focused, with a pour-over program. A quick-grab spot, outdoor seating. Full breakfast, pastries, and light food on the menu. Family friendly.

Everything’s ok, average. Not great. The almond croissant was heavy, the dough of the berry pie wrong. The coffee resembles Starbucks with dome east coast flavor. The foam on the cappuccino was great. No “for here” cups.

Great little coffee shop. Has a wide have a wide variety of different coffees and flavors .if I do say so myself it's better than Starbucks. Even their pastries are fantastic . The staff are helpful and very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions you might have. and…

Reasonably decent. A relatively quiet place to rest from site-seeing with open seating. Quiche was quite good, cheesy and fluffy with flakey, buttery crust. Espresso was about "average" (a good alternative to Starbucks).

Their service was excellent, prices are a little higher than their competitors but they do have a wide variety of coffee. The pastries were very delicious expecially the lemon bar. And the cost of pastries were pretty reasonable
