Crema's Take

This Decatur spot has earned a devoted following for its Instagram-worthy aesthetic and creative signature drinks like their charming ghost lattes, matcha lattes, and chai creations that genuinely deliver on flavor. While the food quality can be inconsistent (some rave about the éclairs and cappuccinos, others note the pastries miss the mark), the real magic happens when you settle in for a slow, leisurely afternoon—it's ideal for lingering over coffee with friends or marking life's big moments, as evidenced by couples who've chosen it for engagements. The experience hinges heavily on who's behind the counter; when staff like Paradise are working, the warmth and service shine, though busier shifts can feel sluggish and less inviting.

Had my engagement proposal here and the staff and management were very accommodating and helpful. They made the planning stage seamless and the service was exceptional during the event. Highly recommend this location for special events or even regular visits (I first visited with my Girlfriend now Fiancée for our first date and loved their coffees/teas). Also, I'm not much of a dessert fan but their macaroons were amazing and the essence of their flavor profile was captured perfectly! Special shout-out to Izzy who helped facilitate this event while we were there, she was attentive and welcoming to all of the guests.

Although the aesthetics and decor were gorgeous, the food was subpar. The wild mushroom sandwich was a few thinly sliced mushrooms with no seasoning, the quiche was borderline burnt, and the matcha was powdery and not mixed well. It is a nice place to work, but the food and drinks were definitely overhyped.

The place is beautiful, the service was provided by the waitress Paradise, she is very friendly, and the food I ordered was delicious, Éclair not too sweet, a cappuccino that was also very mild without sugar, and a croissant that was warm and crispy.

The ghost lattes are such a cute idea and they were also very good. We got their matcha latte and chai latte and they were both amazing! It’s also quite a versatile spot. Perfect for brunch & lunch dates, or even just to go study.

This place didn’t feel warm and welcoming. It was my first time trying out this coffee shop. It was pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon, which is great for business! However, the flow was very slow and lackluster. The cashier didn’t greet me, nor did she ask of my preferred size, which I later noticed on my receipt — which in her defense, maybe she was exhausted and burned out. I observed the operational flow, as I sat and waited 13 whole minutes for an iced mocha and latte. 1 person took the orders, and the other person made the orders. There were also kitchen staff, who apparently only worked in the back. The pace was already slow, but, when the 1 person who was making the orders had to refill the water, pausing the orders, to go to the back kitchen, it made the wait feel even longer!! I stood, watching the ice melt in my cup, waiting for the 1 guy to return, to finish our orders. Beautiful decor, tight space to wait, and overall slow service (or maybe just on a Sunday afternoon). There was no place to sit (inside or out), so had to take it to-go. All in all, worth checking out, and returning for a better outcome :-)
