Crema's Take

This beloved Capitol Crossing spot excels at creating a warm, vintage-tinged refuge where you'll find genuinely excellent pastries, breads, and breakfast items displayed with bakery-case care. The cozy atmosphere makes it perfect for lingering over coffee with a friend or settling in with your laptop, though arriving during off-peak hours helps you actually snag a seat in this perpetually buzzing neighborhood favorite. Service tends to be attentive and friendly here, and the traditional coffee drinks pair beautifully with their thoughtfully crafted food menu.

Typically I don’t leave reviews but great customer service always deserves recognition. I want to give a big shoutout and thank you to Tatte especially the 250 Massachusetts Avenue NW location i order every now again— OBSESSED with the BLAT. Today I ordered pick up but I meant to order Delivery. I called the store and im so mad I didn't catch the name of the woman I spoke to but IF YOU’RE SEEING THIS THANK YOU FOR YOUR KINDNESS❤️ she stated that she couldn’t switch it to delivery but she can cancel and refund me and i can reorder for delivery. Thats not even what made my day. Just the simple kind gesture of a small note in my bag really did it in for me. You don't get this type of care anywhere and thats simply just her character. Again something so small but it’s really the small things that make the biggest impact!! Anyways try the BLAT the Museli is THICK but delicious with some honey added and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TRY THE DARN CHEESECAKE CUPSSSSS

Great food! You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Only thing is you have to go at an off peak hour because it’s so full with people on laptops, so it can be hard to get a table and gets loud. Not a reliable place to take a meeting. But if you go at a time that avoids the lunch rush it’s amazing.

The café is nice, but my experience was ruined by the attitude of one of the staff. I went to take a napkin from a table, and the employee hit my hand and told me to take it from another table. The tables were all close together, and it wasn’t clear which one I was supposed to use. I didn’t like how that was handled — it really affected my overall impression.

Tatte Bakery & Cafe has simple but beautiful interior. The breads, pastries, and cakes are displayed in an organized way, allowing customers to have a clear view of the selection. I got the plain, chocolate, and pistachio croissants, kouign-amann, and iced ginger-date oat milk latte. The pastries tasted good. They had good flakiness and were buttery. My drink had strong ginger taste than date. It was not bad. The bakery gets crowded and busy fast. I would come back here again.

Having breakfast here is definitely a great choice, especially if you’re coming with someone special. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by a cozy, vintage atmosphere—simple, clean, and full of charm. It felt like stepping into a romantic little café in an old movie. We sat by the window, sunlight pouring in, sipping on some seriously good coffee—it was rich, smooth, and felt like the kind of coffee that could fix your whole day. The food was simple but satisfying, perfect for a slow morning together. The only thing I wish was better? The restroom. It’s really tiny and a bit too cramped for comfort. A little more space (and maybe a mirror with soft lighting?) would definitely make it feel more welcoming. But overall, it’s a lovely spot for a breakfast date. We left with full bellies and happy hearts.
