Coffee here was just impeccable! Flavors mend together so well. I had the Cafe Con Leche and it was just incredible. The conchas were also delicious. Any thing with Masa cake is amazing! Can’t wait to come back!
This is a very well-known bakery, and every time I’ve tried to visit before, they were completely sold out. I finally got lucky on a Sunday morning and managed to grab a few items. The conchas are good, with a really nice crispy top. I preferred the vanilla one over the chocolate. The chocolatina is a beautifully glazed chocolate croissant and very flaky. That said, I found the chocolate in both the chocolatina and the chocolate concha to be surprisingly sour. You can tell they’re using high-quality, very dark chocolate, but the acidity was a bit unpleasant for me. I think it could use some balance. On the bright side, the sweetness level overall is just right. The pink cake was my favorite item. The corn flavor really shines, and the texture is perfect. It was delicious and memorable. Prices are similar to Rockman Bakery, so it’s on the pricier side, but the baked goods clearly have strong Mexican cultural influence, which I really appreciated. Overall, I’m glad I finally got to try it. Good experience, the chocolates are a little too sour.
Absolutely Delicious! I grew up with conchas from Laredo so I was not expecting the joy in the one I had today. And the same for the pink cake. We picked one of everything they had, a concha, pink cake, a pistachio cookie and a little slice of heaven that we are hoping to save for after dinner if they last that long. We easily parked right outside the front door in their lot, the service was friendly. Loved the coffee. The space is very celebratory. And you do get a little peak into the kitchen which is special. Treat yourself! Highly recommend this sweet gem.
This is definitely a gem of a bakery in Austin Texas. They have Mexican inspired, baked goods and drinks. I stopped by recently for their recent weekend special for tacos and Mexican donuts, and it did not disappoint. We ordered one of everything and enjoyed the variety of donuts and tacos. I do recommend going early on weekends. They have a small parking lot but they also have lots of neighborhood street parking that is free. Their bakery is small so frequently there are lines out the door. They also have a patio in the back with sunshades where you can enjoy your goodies. This is the kind of spot I would take out of town visitors for a unique bakery experience.
Excellent bakery. I was skeptical about the hype but this may be the best conchas I've had. Very flavorful and has excellent texture. All of the other pastries were equally great. I would come back and order all of them again. We also had the Texas pecan horchata with espresso and it had tons of flavor and the added espresso tempered the sweetness nicely. The actual inside is tiny so if you have a group I would suggest just sending one person into order and taking it to-go although there are tables outside. The staff was also friendly and you can peak into the bakery. Everyone seemed happy and you could feel the positive energy like they wanted to be there. I live about 15 minutes away and would gladly come pick up some pastries and bring them home. Really good to pick up for out of town guests. Highly recommended. The price seems high but paying a living wage and high quality ingredients is fair. Honestly, it's one of those places that are so good I would pay even more for this level of quality. Looking forward to coming back.
