Deja Brew
763 Edgewood Ave, New Haven, CT
Crema's Take
“Deja Brew is a beloved neighborhood spot in New Haven where the pastries are genuinely exceptional—think buttery croissants pulled fresh from the oven and house-made carrot cake that keeps locals coming back. Beyond the standout baked goods, their diverse kitchen menu shines with thoughtful sandwiches and a full breakfast spread, all executed with care and reasonable prices, making it equally appealing whether you're grabbing coffee on the run or settling in for an unhurried morning with a friend.”

I live in the area and stop in from time to time to grab pastries and coffee or lunch. I love their pastries. Ended up with a croissant that had just come out of the oven! Hands down one of the best I've ever had. All the workers are really nice and it's a cute little shop with nice indoor and outdoor seating when the weather is nice.
We love Deja Brew! Best cafe on this side of town! The kitchen is so good - such a diverse menu and everything we had was delicious. Service is quick. And the coffee and pastries were amazing.
I’ve heard good things about this place, but I was sadly disappointed. The atmosphere and location are nice, but that’s about it. The FOH staff need better training- the person who took my order kept rudely interrupting me and didn’t know the menu or how to use the POS. They didn’t let me finish saying my order, even though I tried to repeat myself many times to make sure they had it right. They also didn’t read it back to me. As a barista myself, I was really thrown off by this- I know how to order clearly. Anyway, after all of this, my order was made incorrectly, and when I politely asked it to be remade, I was given even more attitude. The coffee itself is bad- the lattes have way too much milk, so you can barely taste the espresso or syrup. Also, the breakfast sandwiches are very overpriced for what they are- the skinniest sandwiches in New Haven! Even with the egg surcharge, they really skimp out on the filings. It’s unfortunate as this place has a ton of potential
Stopped here for a quick lunch. Really cute place! I got the Edgewood sandwich - very good! 😋 Also got fresh made carrot cake and a pumpkin iced coffee. Would definitely stop here again when I’m back in town.
Nice cozy cafè with outdoor seating with strict social distancing rules. Ordered a “The Hearty” breakfast sandwich along with other pastries and coffee for a reasonable price. Customer service was good. Coffee was too bitter and had a Burnt taste to it, had to request more milk in order to help it taste better. Other than that, I would come back again and would recommend getting food and good treats here.
