Uncommon Grounds
3700 O St NW, Washington, DC
Crema's Take
“Uncommon Grounds sits in a DC building with a casual, spacious vibe that works equally well for a quick coffee or lingering meetings, thanks to generous indoor and outdoor seating. While reviews are decidedly mixed on consistency—some praise their Kona coffee and fresh food, others find the pricing steep and execution uneven—the spot does offer an approachable blend of traditional and specialty drinks alongside pastries and light fare.”

Customer service was horrible. I wanted to buy some food, then asked to use the bathroom And the lady working, they told me there’s no public restroom. Clearly there was a public restroom Because there was a big sign that said restrooms. It almost felt as though she did not want me to use the restroom because I was in African-American. She was very nasty and then when I proceeded to call the shop to speak to a manager, the phone did not work.
Food is okay! Nothing to really rave about! Expensive! 11.95 per LBS. very average food.
This is an ILC cafeteria in disguise. Muy expensivo. The only place I’ve had fried plantains that are dry. Actually I think they are regular bananas. Tia Maria would be ashamed. Or maybe they use a new recipe? Or maybe healthier method of frying? Try the toasted cheese sandwich instead. One of the stars covers the fresh fruit they have. With the price they charge by weight I hope they are paying their employees good wages. Haste la nun a if I can avoid this place.
I spend about $50/week in this place because my office is in the building. Today the cashier decides she’s now going to charge me for jelly when the omelette I ordered comes with toast. That’s like charging for ketchup when you order fries. A few weeks ago she charged me for extra cheese when I didn’t order any. Insane. Watch your receipts because they’re tacking on charges to run up the tab. I’ll take my business elsewhere.
Delicious fresh food and Kona Coffee, my favorite. Friendly staff. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating.
