Crema's Take

This cozy Broussard kitchen radiates genuine hospitality, where a standout server named Duchess sets a warm tone that keeps folks coming back for more than just the food. Beyond solid traditional fare like chicken fried steak and shrimp salad, Tim's wins hearts with homemade desserts—particularly their decadent cakes that reviewers describe as "slices of heaven"—and the refreshing honesty that this labor of love operates as a passionate side project rather than a corporate venture.

I was in town for work training for a little while and decided to stop by yesterday. Duchess took my order and she was amazing. The food was so good I forgot to even take a picture for a review. So I had to come back again today before I leave and they didn’t disappoint either. This time I had the pork steak and double Mac and cheese (because it’s that good). Duchess customer service was on point again. She even asked if I wanted something sweet or a drink with my meal, and I’m glad she did because that lemonade was off the chain. I head back home today, but I’m definitely going to be taking that hour drive back to Tim’s soon.

Tim’s was a great stop. Duchess took our order and was genuinely one of the friendliest people I’ve come across — she set the whole tone from the start. The shrimp salad was simple but packed with flavor. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned and grilled — looked exactly like the photos online, which is rare. The gumbo was a different taste than I’m used to, but I appreciated that they included a bowl with my to-go order. Small detail, big difference. Duchess also recommended the banana split cake and she was absolutely right — it looked just as good as it tasted. Warm atmosphere, great artwork, and a staff that actually cares. If you’re passing through, make the stop. Worth it.

I just started working in Broussard and was looking for someplace to eat a decent plate lunch for under $20 to go, so I went to Tim’s. I saw Chicken Fried Steak with mashed potatoes on the menu, and that’s as close to home as you can get. I took my order to go, and when I opened the box, I was immediately struck that the mashed potatoes had greasy brown gravy and what was sold as chicken fried steak was dry setting on the side. I tried to cut the mystery meat and the breading all just fell off. I tried feeding a piece of it to my dog, and he would not eat it. Bottom line money well spent, I never have to go there again. I will not comment on the canned greens or the so called salad. The one thing that was good was the roll. That’s what I had for lunch.

Yes. Yes. Yes. I had spaghetti. It's not a wet spaghetti. And the meatballs are delicious 🤤. I didn't have to add anything. The cakes?! 🎂 Large slices of heaven. I ordered wedding cake, black velvet, banana supreme or split, and strawberry shortcake. All of them were delicious, but my favorites were the black velvet and banana supreme. Just treat yourself to some happiness and go.

I enjoyed going to Tim's Kitchen. They are very friendly and the food is excellent. This is just a part time job for them. They say it's just a hobby, but they do an excellent job of welcoming people. We went on a Sunday and got the brisket plate to split between two people. It had some really tasty rice and the brisket was delicious. We also got a slice of coconut cake. Tim came up to us and welcomed us. They do a great job of welcoming people in. I plan to be back.
