Crema's Take

This beloved breakfast destination in Bayonne has built a devoted following willing to cross state lines for their specialty waffles, thoughtfully crafted coffee, and creative breakfast menu that draws praise for both quality and variety. The warm, family-friendly atmosphere and genuinely friendly staff create an inviting spot perfect for lingering over matcha tea or signature drinks, though regulars note the vegan options have recently become more limited. It's the kind of place that inspires Instagram posts and repeat visits, where the cinnamon bun waffles are legendary—just ask if you prefer less of their signature syrup coating.

I’m originally from Staten Island and used to rave about Beans & Leaves. I went back for a visit and was disappointed. There were no longer a lot of vegan options. I wound up having almond butter toast, which was just okay and something I could easily have made at home. My husband liked his muffin and iced coffee. But my coffee was awful. I got the biscoff latte, which was on their hot coffee specials menu. The barista gave me an iced drink and I told her I had wanted it hot. When I got the hot one, there was NO flavor at all and the espresso tasted burnt and like the shot didn’t pull correctly. It was undrinkable - I even made my husband try it and he agreed. Not wanting to send a second drink back, I just threw it out. I would give Beans & Leaves another try next time, but definitely won’t go out of my way like I did this time to make the trip there.

This is my must have breakfast spot when in NYC, yes I WILL cross the bridge for Beans n Leaves. Their breakfast and coffee do not disappoint with a decent menu selection. Specialty waffles, croissant french toast, omelets, and fresh baked goodies, any one you choose is yummy. Service is good and food is prepared to order quickly. Street parking is free on Sundays and there's usually a spot or two available. Establishment is wheelchair accessible however bathroom is not, and getting around some tables may be challenging.

I heard about this place through a posting on Instagram, so I put this place down as a must try the next time I drive to Staten Island. This is such a sweet breakfast place, and the staff here is so friendly and welcoming. They have a decent menu of primarily specialty waffles and French Toast. I opted to go with the S'Mores Waffle, and it was absolutely amazballs and super filling. I also ordered the Mocha Latte, and that was great as well. The prices are very reasonable and the place is clean. Parking in the area was pretty easy to find as well. For those who are not familiar with the area, like myself, I wanted to let everyone know that they recently moved across the street from their original location, right next to Kettle Black. I will definitely come back here again the next time I happen to be driving down in this area. And maybe next time, I will pick up some of the pastries people have been raving about.

I was planning to go to this place with people from JCC. I learned that this was just a breakfast place, so I went here with my community hab worker the next day, Saturday morning 🌅 and my experience was a good time. 👌I wanted to purchase one of the drinks, cookies and cream frappe with chocolate chip muffin. ☕🧁 My com hab worker was nice enough to pay it for me. We sat down in one of their tables and chairs for a short bite. I also took one of their calling cards for information. The atmosphere is a little fancy and generic. Sometimes their service is a little busy, but I didn't mind. 😎 I would recommend coming back here to this Cafe which is 7 minutes from my house 🏠. Also to try out more of their drinks and pastries. 🥐🥯🥞🧇

Friendly staff, delish coffee and fraps. Topped with a delicious cinnabun waffle. There is a lot of sugar on the waffle so if that's not your style, ask for less syrup bc it's sweet. It was a nice pit stop between church and home. Will be back ☺️
