Crema's Take
“Nestled in Hamtramck, this beloved cafe and bookstore seamlessly blends quality coffee culture with genuine hospitality, where attentive baristas craft personalized drinks using La Colombe beans and the kitchen turns out everything from warming "flu killer" turmeric-ginger tea to hearty potato leek soup and fresh sandwiches. The inviting space lined with books celebrating diverse cultures creates the kind of cozy, unpretentious atmosphere where you'll find yourself coming back day after day, whether you're there for a leisurely breakfast, focused work session, or just to be around people who actually care about what they're serving.”

Went here for the first time today. I'm not much of a coffee drinker but told the barista what I like and she made me the perfect drink. The coffee shop is cute and cozy. Will definitely be going back.
Got the Grandma’s tea. It’s the flu killer!! Honey, tumeric , lemon and ginger all blended into a hot tea. Atmosphere is on point and cozy too!
Delicious Coffee, Tea, Potato Leek Soup and Sandwiches. Beautiful atmosphere with books from a culture we want to explore. Everyone is so nice and the space inviting. A perfect start to the day.
Was in town for an extended weekend and ended up coming here each of the five days of our trip. Coffee and espresso drinks are great. They use La Colombe beans which is solid. Each morning we paired our coffees with a sandwich and a sweet treat, working through their sandwich menu almost entirely. The Holbrook was delicious, especially if you like a (very) spicy kick. We also had the Caniff, the Gallagher, the Breakfast Sandwich, and the Holbrook again the last day (asked to sub mayo for the fiery sauce which tamed the spice). Each sandwich was excellent. Beyond the food and drinks, the team there were amazingly hospitable. We were immediately recognized on just the second day back. And by the third day, she knew our names. The vibes were so welcoming. Clientele are a great representation of the community that is Hamtramck. We shared the space with everyone from students working on laptops, to businesspeople in suits, to a group of Bangladeshi ladies on a weekday coffee hangout. This place won me over. Looking forward to coming back. If you made it this far, then I hope you enjoy your upcoming visit to Kitab Cafe and Bookstore!
🔥Google Guide Review 🤤: I was in the area after returning an item close by. I was looking for a place to get some work done while being able to get food and Kitab was perfect. I ordered the Caprese on Sourdough and their Spinach Lentil Soup w/ Sourdough bread. Both were greatly flavorful and tasted amazing. There was no empty room on the sandwich where you were left with bread with no toppings. The soup pad tons of spinach, lentils, and veggies with seasoned broth that hit the soul. The atmosphere was great for coworking and fellowship surrounded by Middle Eastern decor and sounds. I will definitely be visiting again 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
