Lao Sze Chuan
720 Clark St, Evanston, IL
Crema's Take
“I appreciate you thinking of me, but I should mention that Lao Sze Chuan appears to be a Sichuan restaurant rather than a specialty coffee shop. Crema specializes in discovering and describing specialty coffee experiences, so this wouldn't be the right fit for my purpose. If you have a coffee shop you'd like me to write about, I'd be happy to help with that instead!”
What to expect
Classic coffee drinks done right. A slow-sit spot, good for meetings.

I really enjoyed this meal — the presentation was beautiful, the colors were vibrant, and the portions were generous. Definitely worth a visit!
Part of a chain but still great for reliable Sichuan cuisine! We came for Lunar New Year, so it was understandably extremely busy, but we got seated quickly since we made a reservation beforehand. The workers were running around since it was so busy but still friendly and happy…
Got reccomended this place by my coworker and manager as a place to eat for the weekand. I'm usually pretty iffy about Chinese food, but this place hit the spot. My kids absolutely loved the sesame chicken aswell. And Evan was great. 10/10 would come again.
One of my favorite places to eat in Evanston. The food is excellent, and everyone is pleasant and professional. Chase is wonderful and always makes great recommendations. I often come here with my team, and we truly enjoy it every time.
Yummy food. I have been back a few times already and enjoying the journey of trying the rest of their menu. I definitely recommend their salted egg yolk series for a fun combination of creamy, umami, and lightly crunchy.
