Crema's Take
“I appreciate you sharing this, but I need to let you know that the reviews provided appear to be from a hospital rather than a coffee shop. The content discusses patient care, nursing staff, and medical procedures—not coffee, atmosphere, or café experience. To write an authentic Crema summary for Princeton Perks in Birmingham, I'd need actual coffee shop reviews that speak to things like their drink quality, ambiance, service style, or what makes their café experience special. Could you double-check the reviews, or would you like to provide different feedback about this coffee shop?”

I was pleasantly surprised by this hospital when I came in for outpatient surgery. It was very clean, the nurses were pleasant and with me every step of the way. Everyone I encountered was professional and caring. I have not received this level of service anywhere else prior in the area.
It's sad how 1 person can change the trajectory of a person's life. Darrell in Physical Therapy on the 5th floor should not be in the business of helping others recover. He is lazy and does not give fair evaluations. The hospital staff in ICU however-is hands down the best and saved my Mom's life.
It was horrible! They never listened they just assumed and sent me home tonight without even asking me what's wrong. They gave me a pregnancy test and I have no tubes to get pregnant. They gave me a flu and COVID test and I specifically told they my head was squeezing in pain not my forehand the back where I was once injured. I also told them I was slipping in and out of consciousness and they ignored my every symptom and treated me like I came there for nothing. I never seen or talked to a doctor. UAB IS MY FIRST CHOICE FROM NOW ON
My friend/sister was in the ED on 9/30/25. I was there for several hours and watched staff talk on their personal phones in the middle of the patient care area, play a game of UNO at the nurses station and didn't display any urgency in responding to any request made by my friend/sister. She only got extra blankets to keep warm when I arrived. My first nursing job in 1993 was at Princeton on 4 North. One of the best work experiences I've had over my 32 year career as a nurse. But last night I was sad. Healthcare is not what it used to be. You can never get paid enough for the job therefore its a calling. Its a job of compassion and service. I didn't see that last night. Moving forward I will do the best I can to uphold my oath I made over 32 years ago to be the best nurse I can be. I cant base my work ethic on someone else's. Our job is too serve.
My 83 year old mother was admitted for surgery on Jan. 21, 2025 and discharged on January 25. It amounted to 4 full days in room 4120. I didn’t catch names but the only 2 nurses that did their jobs efficiently with compassion and honesty, in my opinion was the shortest nurse assigned and the nurse that helped discharge my mother. The lady delivering meals wore earbud(s) as she worked which didn’t project interest in the patient nor did she ever respond when I attempted to speak to her. The food wasn’t bad. A couple of times the “plates/trays” from lunch and supper were not picked up until breakfast the next day. Bed linen wasn’t changed when I asked on day 2 and 3 even though I noted to the nurse that there was bloody seepage from a drainage bulb on the sheets. Finally after the sheets fell on the floor and showed dirt and grime was it changed. Pillow cases were removed but not replaced. Almost every time I asked nurse for some lab result or timeline, they routinely said they would check and let me know within the hour, they never came back with any information. Personnel in the hall and at the nurses desk were routinely so loud with conversations and laughter, we closed the door to the room because rest was needed. The ladies taking vitals were always happy, positive and answered questions without hesitation. The surgeons and their assistants were stellar. Not only were the informative and answered questions with promptness and compassion, their word seemed to carry weight with nurses and things were done quickly. Upon discharge, my 83 year old post surgery mother was wheeled to the lobby near the interior automatic door by the gift shop. When I pulled the vehicle into the pickup lane, she was standing alone with her personal items to walk to the vehicle on her own. I highly recommend the surgical staff but we felt like a burden and inconvenience to the majority of the other staff. I am not looking for vengeance, simply wanting to let others know of our experience so it will hopefully not happen for them in the future. It is my opinion that you can never get better without self evaluation and watching game film of yourself. If there is a silver lining to this for someone, it could be a “what not to do” for administration to review at a future professional development.
