Southern Maid Donuts

Crema's Take
“Southern Maid Donuts near Bishop Arts is a beloved neighborhood spot that draws serious donut devotees—the blueberry cake donut inspires genuine reverence among regulars, and their gorditas and breakfast tacos round out an impressive menu that goes well beyond the typical donut shop fare. While consistency can be hit-or-miss with their coffee drinks, the welcoming vibe, reasonable prices, and drive-thru option make it an easy favorite for families grabbing a quick pastry or settling in for a slower morning with their fancy coffee options.”

They have the best donuts, coffee and gorditas. Affordable and great atmosphere. The staff is also nice and friendly.
Char on the menu. Extremely disappointed with my recent visit. I ordered a Frappuccino and was given plain iced coffee – the ice wasn’t blended at all. The pigs in a blanket were completely burned, rock-hard, topped with charred jalapeño. They should never have been served in that condition. To make things worse, the older Hispanic woman at the drive-thru window was rude from the start. She acted annoyed while taking my order and made mocking faces when I raised a concern and made me pay for replacement sausage rolls. Completely unprofessional. This used to be my favorite spot, and I’ve left positive reviews before. But after being treated this way and served inedible food, I don’t know if I can come back.
I’m being very serious when I say the blueberry cake donut is the best donut I’ve ever eaten. Ever. The vegetarian breakfast tacos are incredible too. Love the option of the drive thru. And I was happy they open so early. I ate here every day during my visit to Dallas, I wish I lived here!
My wife wanted breakfast tacos this morning. This was the worst experience at a neighborhood donut shop every. Wasn’t greeted with any kind of nice welcoming. Woman behind the counter was very rude and abrupt with us like we offended her by just being customers. I asked for a kolche and she just straight up ignored me. Everything we ordered she acted like it was such a hassle and problem for her to get. Then we get home and open up our tacos to the most dismal display of a breakfast taco I’ve ever seen. Hardly any filling at all, way more tortilla than filling. We were not thanked for our business or anything on the way out. Terrible experience. Terrible service. Terrible food. Will not be going back!!!
Nice little place near Bishop Arts. They have fantastic options from kolaches, eclairs, pink donuts with star sprinkles, Apple fritters and regular donuts. They also sell fancy coffee! They have a nice espresso machine on the back counter in case you are in the mood for a latte with your donut holes. The prices are good for donuts, though coffee was a bit pricey considering it is a donut shop. The back wall is covered in photos from Dallas. There was a photo of JFK, the Beatles and more. It was neat to sit and look at them. It's quiet so if you are looking for a place to chill and relax, this is it. There is outside seating and covered outside seating as well as indoor seating.
