If there is one place in Sarasota that completely surprised me in the best way, it is 1592 Wood Fired Kitchen & Cocktails. I visited with clients, my manager, and a few close friends, and what was meant to be a simple dinner turned into one of the most memorable evenings we’ve shared. The restaurant itself has such a charming, cozy vibe — stylish yet welcoming. The warm lighting, the aroma from the wood-fired oven, and the lively atmosphere instantly set the mood. It’s the kind of place that feels “cute” at first glance, but once the food arrives, all you can say is WOW. We decided to experiment since many of us hadn’t tried this style of cuisine before. We began with the smoked fish dip and the truffle burrata — both packed with flavor and beautifully presented. One bite in, and we were already planning what to order next. For mains, our table went all in. The mixed grill (with an added lamb chop) was a showstopper — perfectly charred, juicy, and deeply flavorful. The open-faced grilled chicken pita was fresh and satisfying, while the moussaka delivered comforting, layered richness. The mushroom medley risotto, both with shrimp and with braised lamb, was creamy, earthy, and indulgent without being heavy. Every single dish felt thoughtfully prepared and perfectly balanced. The drinks were just as impressive — well-crafted cocktails, smooth pours, and refreshing combinations that paired beautifully with the smoky flavors from the kitchen. Service was attentive, warm, and professional. Despite our large and lively group, everything arrived on time, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Dinner was so good that skipping dessert was not even an option. Baklava, traditional Greek orange cake, and crème brûlée — each one better than the last. If you’re in Sarasota, please eat here. You truly won’t regret it. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience worth repeating.
Very pleasantly surprised! Mediterranean is one of my favorite cuisines. This was the best falafel I ever had. The smoked fish dip was the biggest surprise of the night MUST TRY on the menu. Its smoked, spicy and has pickled onions and eggs that are perfect with that dish. They have a big selection from the wood fired grill. We had the grilled yellowfin tuna steak and the Braised Beef Osso Buco. The desserts were another surprise, very elevated and tasty. We tried the tiramisu and the cheesecake wishes and caramel dreams. See the pictures below
Very good service, outside seating optional, inside seating has a nice atmosphere, food was very tasty and at a reasonable price. I tried the braised lamb shanks. Very tender and great tasting sauce. My wife tried the braised beef rib. Also a very tasty dinner.
Cute place with food that all I can say is WOW! We experimented with a lot since we had never had anything like this. Started with the smoked fish dip and truffle burrata. We wanted more. Then our table had the mixed grill (added on a lamb chop), the open faced grilled chicken pita, moussaka, mushroom medley risotto with shrimp, and mushroom medley risotto with braised lamb. Dinner was SO GOOD we HAD to try dessert. Baklava, traditional Greek orange cake, and the crème brûlée. Please eat here. You won’t regret it.
Living in Sarasota, I’ve tried a plenty of restaurants, and this mediterranean spot is consistently outstanding and every visit is amazing! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and we order several dishes each time because everything is so good & we can never decide!!! The service today was especially exceptional—friendly, attentive, and welcoming. And don’t worry about parking—there’s plenty here, unlike downtown in general. Highly recommend for authentic Greek cuisine and a great dining. experience!
